  • New to the boards... question regarding Dino Crisis 2

Hello everyone, i'm new to the boards... I noticed that DC2 has a ton of action and is pretty popular... I happen to be against too much action and a bigger fan of pure suspense/survival horror which DC1 fullfilled in excellent fashion.. but my main question is, is there any suspense aspect or scary factor to expect from DC2.. It seems like it's just pure action and I want some advice before I go near buying the game.

Note: I never played the game.

It's pure action, but it's extremely enjoyable.

DC1 and DC2 have two completely different gameplay styles

Yea but it dissapoints me that can expect not to find any sort of scary suspense whatsoever. That's sort of what I look for in a videogame combined with a great storyline.

Capcom decided at the time the limits for scare seemed to have been gone and pushed for more action-oriented gameplay. A lot of that stemmed from sales of RE2 and RE3 compared to how well the original Dino Crisis sold especially when it came to DC2.

At the time DC2 released there were a lot of question by fans of the original about the change in dynamics (less puzzles, less scares, more action) but you'll find what they replaced it with is exceptionally solid (so solid in fact, Capcom still uses parts of it's gameplay in titles today including DMC titles, RE4 and 5 and Dead Rising 1 & 2). The story is exceptionally decent too, thanks to the late-Flagship scripting.
