Sony PSP2 Confirmed...
Though this does not in any way confirm that Resident Evil: Portable was not just scrapped, or turned into RE: Revelations, it DOES say that a new HD capable Playstation Portable is going to be released next year. I would not be surprised at all if Capcom moved RE: Portable to the PSP2 as a launch title to showcase the PSP2's graphic processing capabilities. Not to mention the touch screen.Tags: None

FINALLY...a second analog stick. This could turn into the best handheld out there. Excuse me, but I have no interest in the 3D gimmick and 2-screens-and-a-stylus gameplay. The PSP has an extremely underrated library, and if the PSP2 has half the dev support that the 3DS has already, it should be awesome.

The analogs from that pic look too far down at the bottom to handle. Just an observation.
Like the 3DS I'm not really interested at this time. We're in an age where product after product is released and overpriced at launch to the point where it's getting ridiculous with so much crap one can handle in less than five years. How long till the next Sony and Nintendo hand held for a new generation of gamers? And what will surpass the outlook of HD, 3D, what have you.
Think: The Blur Effect.
I'm sure there will be impressive games on it and many other neat features. I'm 22 and already feeling like a cave man looking at a microwave.

Smiley makes a good point -- The PS3 I can see lasting between 5 and 10 more years in development life, whereas the PSP2, though it might last 5-6 years development life, will still be something that Sony can upgrade with new features, processors and graphics cards and there goes the $300 you spent just a few years ago. And it WILL be no less than $300, considering the 3DS is being estimated at $250 and the Sony device is always more expensive than that of Nintendo.
I'll likely get this PSP as I missed out on the first generation, but I'll have to wait for the second SKU at minimum. The first will likely overheat, be large, more susceptible to errors. Which brings to the point, expensive items that will just be updated and get nicer versions and better features in a year. It's crap. But hey, you know what you're in for when you get a new generation of technology.

It's hard to believe that what we're looking at is real -- but we assure you, the picture above is in fact the PlayStation Phone you've long been waiting for. As we reported back in August, the device you see is headed into the market soon, likely boasting Android 3.0 (aka Gingerbread), along with a custom Sony Marketplace which will allow you to purchase and download games designed for the new platform. The device snapped up top (and in our gallery below) is sporting a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 (a chip similar to the one found in the G2, but 200MHz faster), 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and the screen is in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches. Looking almost identical to the mockup we hit you with this summer, the handset does indeed have a long touchpad in the center which is apparently multitouch, and you can see in the photos that it's still bearing those familiar PlayStation shoulder buttons. For Sony buffs, you'll be interested to know that there's no Memory Stick slot here, but there is support for microSD cards. The particular model in these shots is still in prototyping mode. As such, the unit doesn't have a custom skin (not even SE's Timescape design seen on the Xperia devices), and is said to be rather buggy. We're digging into more facts as we speak, but it's likely that much of what we reported earlier is still accurate, and though the device could still be headed for a 2010 release, 2011 is looking much more realistic. Still, there's a lot of time between now and the holidays... so keep your fingers crossed! %Gallery-106052% %Gallery-106050%

i've seen that picture over a month ago, therefore, the handheld might be real, but that is definitely not the right image. its a mocked up fan made one, claimed from Kotaku. the phone on the other hand, i wouldn't know. by the way, in my opinion the analogs are shit on a hand-held. i'm glad the DS doesn't have one, but the PSP definitely don't need them. they're easy to pop off and uncomfortable with the thumb.

If Sony takes the touch-sensitive analog approach I see hope on the horizon for them yet. Now I can't comment on weather the analog on the PSP is good or not, but I know I've heard a few complaints. Maybe the exclusion on the PSPhone (Hey. PSP-Phone=PSPhone! That's like, omg so funnee!) will be the best thin SCEA could do.

I believe this is a leak, but it looks legit:
* Still a non-final prototype.
* Believed to be Android 3.0
* Slim chance of a 2010 launch. Early 2011 is more likely
* Looks like two finger multi-touch pad in between the face buttons. Classic shoulder buttons and face buttons are present.
* 1 GHz CPU, 512MB RAM (PS3 also has 512MB total RAM including video). No word on GPU.
Wow! If I don’t have to break my phone contract, this is a must buy.
