one thing i find funny. its $99.99 for the CE, least the U.S. one., and while its packaged so nicely, probably the best overall packaging ever done for a CE, since everything is slotted in place, at the same time its tinier than a lot of editions that are also priced for $100 that i've seen it.

So far most of the negative press seems to be bullcrap. Even the standard cars look better than most other games, and at least equal with others. Nothing compares to the premium ones.
Seems to be a big overlook at the fact the game runs in full 1080p at 60fps even with 16 cars, as well as 3D.Last edited by Dracarys; 11-24-2010, 07:58 PM.Beanovsky Durst - "They are not pervs. They are japanese."

What is this nonsense about compression? The game doesn't even fill a single layer bluray disc and there is nothing stopping a double layered being used, there isn't a need to compress anything. Making up nonsense for some weird hate of the game is pretty lame.
Anyway, it seems reviewers who didn't play much got stung by a little trick.
snippets for the gist,
"In general the reviews have been positive for Gran Turismo 5 thus far. However, one of the biggest criticisms has been the lack of “realistic damage” as promised by Yamauchi, head of Polyphony Digital. "
"Its true that it takes a monumental effort to sustain damage in Gran Turismo 5, but it turns out that only applies to those who have only played the a game a little. "
"As investigated by GTPlanet.net forum, Gran Turismo 5 has a progressive damage system. This means that as you level up and become more experienced each level of damage becomes unlocked. A report indicates that at level 20 in the game, near full damage becomes unlocked with moderate mechanical issues and at level 40 full damage becomes unlocked with significant mechanical issues."
"At full damage, mechanical failures play a critical role in the vehicles drivability and aerodynamics. At this level car hoods, trunks, and even doors will be hanging by a hinge as pieces of the car fall off."
"The fact that this was kept under wraps also sort of feels like Yamauchi’s “gotcha” to those that may have jumped the gun on rushing to put out their reviews without fully playing the game. "Beanovsky Durst - "They are not pervs. They are japanese."

Dirt 2 requires that on PC, and that game has way superior graphics of any racing game on the market. its stupid i think. not even MGS4 required half of that, and that was the first dual layer blu-ray title on PS3.
Nobody cares about being forced to install, and GT5 install is optional. If anything most people want more games to offer install options.Beanovsky Durst - "They are not pervs. They are japanese."
