That movie is terrible, nothing but retcons (including one that wiped away the last 40 years of Trek from canon), plot holes and general nonsense.

The new Star Trek Film was fantastic and a great way of bringing it back fresh again, compared to that cluster which was called enterprise and the lack of direction where Star Trek was going. I think this is probably need to go to a different thread however since the topic of reboots has started to change the subject, which should be better suited for its own discussion.

Anyhow, new article up on game informer on the evolotion of Lara since Core Design's Tomb Raider 1. click here

            ^ That'll turn into a debate between trekkies and trekkers. :p j/k

Personally while I think this looks good, did the last few games really sell that terribly that another story reboot is needed now? *

I thought they did reasonably okay, plus I know the reviews were mostly positive and while I know Underworld's interest was down in the public eye but I think that was because a lot of people had been spoiled by other games with what was considered better mechanics and nicer visuals (Uncharted in particular). Still wasn't a bad game.

They could have gone for all the gritty style while containing the continuity from the Legend/Underworld line.

            * Apparently the game has sold more than 2.6 million units which was more than Eidos expected at the time. According to Wikipedia via various gaming outlets, original sales were under expectations of around only 1.5mil but the game ended up having a long burn rate and actually sold to expectations after another few months.

Those images in the Game Informer issue have been comfirmed to be in-game.

For all of you peeps who received your copy of #GameInformer today, those are not renders, they are ACTUAL in-game screens. #forreals

And also the article writter has revealed that Square's CGI team is also working on some CGI teatment for certain moments (like with CORE's Tomb Raider games) that occur in the main game.

If this game is set at a naitive 720p resolotion then this game is going to look insane on consoles. Just think how the PC version (one I am going to go for) will look. Square's made a great choice on buying Eidos and having their developed talents with some of the western expertise they now have to help tackle their production/management problems. This is only going to get nothing but better in the future.

Stu already mentioned that. I think it was Stu, I can't be bothered to look back.

Also, remember the last time they told us to get excited about a new Tomb Raider and we ended up with Angel of Darkness?

                      Holy fucking shit.
I want this. So bad. The scans and storyline sound amazing. It looks visually just stunning. I was a little skeptical at first about the whole 'reboot Tomb Raider' idea, but I am liking what I am seeing. The Lara Croft franchise is one of my absolute favorites, so I'm happy to see this is being treated well.

ALSO, about Star Trek. JJ Abrams stated that his movie took place in an alternate universe. That's why there are differences.

Yeah he says time travel creates alternate universes, only 40 years of Trek that feature time travel have established that to not be true, instead using the back to the future method of altering the past changes the future, not creates an alternate universe leaving the original intact.

Hmmm, but on the other hand, we also know Alternative Realities exist from various episodes. There's nothing to say that the Spock of that dimension was the same as the Spock from the dimension we usually get to watch, is there?

Ahh but he claims it was the time travel that created the altrnative reality, after starting in the regular Trek reality. Making his claim void, breaking canon, or wiping out all history from TOS, TNG, DS9 and Voyager, depending how you wanna look at it.

There are mirror universes I might add, which you could see as alternate realities in much the same way as the universe in which 'Star Trek' is set.
