So, I finally beat the game.
Spoiler:
It was...eh. The ending was just one flaw in the game. It had a crap ton of problems that stopped me enjoying it as much as the previous two.
Part of this may be because I believed the below quotes from this thread. I have no idea if any of them were actually spoken by BioWare, though.
Almost all the main choices have taken place before you try to import your character (and get told to fuck off, make a new face). Mordin died back in ME1, when I saved Wrex. Grunt lived in ME2 when I gained his loyalty. I can't affect Thane or Legion dying. The only person I could have killed is Tali, but I was awesome enough that I got both the Geth and the Quarians.
I was expecting so much choice. I remember a quote saying the team was pleased that this was the third and they no longer had to link it to the next part, so it could be much bigger and varied. But almost all the major choices were already made. The two big ones were Tali and the Genophage cure. And the Genophage has no effect on the rest of the game, so far as I can tell.
Plus it was linear as hell. Sure, in ME1 and ME2 you only get a choice of which sections to complete before the next unlock, but you don't even get that here.
And all three endings are nigh on identical. The fact there are only three is hideous enough to me, but to make it essentially only one with variations...
And, as with most people, I found the ending deeply unsatisfying. Who the fuck was the Catalyst Kid? Why did he assume the way he did?
All told, the Indoctrination 'It was all a dream' explanation and a proper ending (with the other half of the game) would be a good bit of DLC. Of course, it'll also cost half as much as a new game...
All told, rather sad.

The game will have numerous endings, some good, some bad, and who you have in your squad and which allies you recruit can have a drastic effect on which are available.
There's no railroad to the end of the game, there are multiple paths to take back Earth.
Some key plot element that will reveal why the Reapers can be defeated. Dont want to reveal it until the game is out. Dont want the way the Reapers can be defeated obvious from the start. Want the progression of the game to give red herrings and a flow of information, so it starts hopeless but you slowly work out what needs to be done.
