Can't say I blame you - Oblivion felt awfully clunky to me.. I loved the freedom and running through the forest and stuff though. Skyrim is a lot more like FO3 (even the developers touched on this several times) so I would give it a shot.. then again maybe not, every time I see a combat movie I cringe slightly, only the archery parts look cool. At least this game will be used as a stepping stone for Fallout 4.. the ultimate game..

Pah, we've already had Fallout 2. I can't see how anyone could ever want any more from a game...well, apart from a proper relationship system.

I'll grab Skyrim. I like Morrowind and Oblivion, almost having a Platinum on oblivion through pure dint of playing it a ton. I'll probably wait until the inevitable Game of the Year edition, though.

I think im one of the few who actually prefered Oblivion to Fallout. I have no idea why but i felt emersed in fallout at all, I played the main story of the first game to the end and just didnt really feel like replaying it.

A couple of hours into it now - I'm not liking this new menu system its really tedious to navigate on a PC, thought they would of learnt that lesson from Oblivion. I mean wtf have to use wsad to move around the menu and then mouse click or enter to confirm. Other than that the game is pretty good, combat is nice especially when you stab someone up at close range. I'm playing as a dark elf this time..

I enjoyed Oblivion when not getting bombarded with bugs. It was a great 5 minutes.

Anyway I was just gonna rent this but with MW3 being a turkey gonna trade it in for the game maybe.

I played this a bit more and I'm really enjoying it now.. definitely blows away Oblivion for me, this actually feels like a real game.. hacking at zombies or roasting them with fireballs has never been so much fun Dark Elves are awesome as they get destructive magic and some stealth skills, so I'm just headshotting them from a distance with my bow before smoking them

The graphics and more realistic animations make the enemies really come alive.. plus the interface is actually pretty decent after you get used to it.. also liking how each area feels unique rather than some crap put together quickly.. so anyone who played Oblivion and hated it should definitely give Skyrim a spin, I know I won't be going back to Oblivion now..

I love my Khajiit, he's a damn awesome stealth beast, taking enemies out with a stab in the back and using his bow afar. He's not afraid of anything, he's a true lady killer.

Here's my wish you was here moments so far.

So, how is this for bugs? And have NPC's been granted emotions?

No game breaking bugs from what I played so far and the character models are A ok. Plus they do have emotions but still expect the same quality voice acting as you did in Oblivion.

Having a good time with this game. I have to say though, the Skyrim environment is pretty grim compared to Oblivion. Dark place, rarely sunny, snowy and feels kind of empty. When I walk around with my warrior, the atmosphere is more scary than adventurous. They pretty much nailed down the northern atmosphere, because that is how it is up north - dark and boring.

I can't say I'm too fond of the new UI, I liked how it was in Oblivion. To me it seems the interface is kind of modern to the style of the game (this was not the case with Oblivion)? I like the fact that you can use your keyboard more actively in the interface.

This is my impression so far, will see how the game progresses.

I'm new to this series but the trailers for this game have got me quite interested, I have a special edition steelbook copy of arkham city which I love more than anything, is it worth trading that in for?

Played a lot over the weekend (too much perhaps) - its a great game no doubt but reeks a little too much of "made for console".. especially the interface which lacks any interesting information, the quest journal offering just one line of text in some cases.. crafting/mining etc is rather simple too with no depth, just press a button, skill can easily be maxed out in a few hours if you have enough cash from what I hear - though I must stress I don't play the game like that, its far better to go through it without a guide/internet info - much more fun!

Some things good in FO3 have regressed here and they have persisted in using more Elder Scrolls-like systems - for better or worse - conversations for example don't feel that interesting/offer limited choices and interactivity.. The game itself also seems rather too easy, can solo dragons pretty much near the start of the game. The game does have bundles of atmosphere though, next time through I'll probably set the difficulty way up and try to create a character that doesn't own everything too quickly...

I also agree with Trent's point on the interface seeming too modern - for me this is just a beta test of FO4 anyway ;)

I started on master difficulty. Makes dragon fights and general combat much more challenging and I find myself strategizing for fights more.

And you should try alchemy. There's lot of ingredients to collect in the world and you can make some kick ass potions and poisons, and it's not a very easy skill to bring up. You'll be doing a lot of experimenting, and using a bad combination of ingredients destroys them.
