Finally got to watch the trailer. Sweet holy hell, that looked...well, I wanna say awesome, but the first thing that comes to mind is emotional. I think I may actually end up pre-ordering this game, especially if it's got local multiplayer. Wow.

Wow...that didn't take long. I think I like the original version better, showing the girl as a soulless zombie first, then going back in time to showing her as a little girl on vacation with her family. I think it's more emotional that way. We think of zombies as mindless creatures, and the original reminds us that it's not the case.

      EDIT: From Destructoid's hands-on: http://www.destructoid.com/impressio...d-194120.phtml
Imagine Borderlands set on the Just Cause 2 island with the Left 4 Dead style of zombies, featuring a quest system similar to Fallout 3 and the weapons system of Dead Rising 2. Blend all of that together, and you get Dead Island; or, as Deep Silver likes to refer to it, a "first-person zombie slasher action RPG."

So funny to read peoples reactions when they think the game is going to be awesome based on this partiular trailer. The trailer and the game are worlds apart.

? Where is anyone saying that the game is gonna be exactly like the trailer? Gameplay previews and hands-on's show that the game is nothing like what we've seen. The point that I and others are trying to make is that it's hard to deny that the trailer is beautifully done and evokes emotions that most games cannot...so the hype that comes from such a trailer creates expectations that are nearly impossible to exceed.

The game can be truly great and innovative and still fail expectations because the trailer is that well-done.

Well, yes. The game's a 1st person thing. We know. But honest to goodness, that was the most emotional three minutes of fictional footage I can recall seeing. It just slammed me right in the gut. Both myself and my wife just watched, mouth open in awe. And both of us usually hate kids in horror, it just feels low. This? This worked. It was such raw emotion.

Now, while it shows nothing about the gameplay, it does at least hint at what the game will be. No cheesy one liners. No back flipping ninjas. But horror and emotion. Honestly? After that trailer, I'd consider getting this if it was a 2-d side scroller being brought out for the origional Game Boy.

It might proove to simply be clever advertising. I think I might cry if that happens, but it might. But none of the other bits I've seen and read about this game over the last three years contradict this, and so I'm buzzed for it. The trailer has just convinced me that I'm gonna wanna scrimp and save and get this one new.

I should have been more precise and mentioned that I had Youtube comments in mind. But this works too.

As long as the game is good I don't care how closely it resembles the trailer.

Just found out they already have a game released called Nail'd; probably going to try out the demo now because of this trailer.

Even if the game isn't good the announcement trailer was done really well. It's better than your average short film aiming to be artsy Oscar bait. It's the memento of zombie films.

The website has finally gone live. Definitely worth checking out.
Dead Island 2 is back! A unique formula of horror, dark humor and over the top zombie-slaying. Coming 04.21.2023 to PlayStation, Xbox and Epic Games Store

The first of four playable characters has been revealed:

                      name : Xian Mei
                      category : Hero

Xian Mei is an employee at the Royal Palm Resort, born and raised in China, she chose an occupation that allowed her to leave her country of birth in order to experience different people and cultures - Banoii is her first placement outside of her homeland.

She is a fast learner, intelligent, and also - as a passionate sportswoman - quick on her feet. Having just arrived at the island, Xian Mei was responsible for a myriad of menial tasks at the hotel, before starting work as a receptionist. This opportunity to meet and greet all the different nationalities that visited the hotel was ideal for Xian Mei, as it provided a perfect source of inspiration for her dreams of travelling the globe.

That is of course, before suddenly the world around her begins to crumble...

Well, if this game comes to fruition I know who my first choice of characters will be to play through the game for the first time. Aside from the spy aspect she has that Ada Wong feel about her, sort of has the look too. This just keeps getting better and better as time rolls on.

The game sounds great and all but seeing as zombies are the latest gaming trend I'll keep my expectations limited. I say that because now that it's a trend the game could be made with much less value because the creators know it'd sell anyway and full CGI trailers never get me excited it looked cool but then again I've seen something very similar in the Hotel level in Left 4 Dead 2. As for the different levels of decay it could be limited to only three different types like if you've played boxing games there are levels of wear and tear but the bruises cuts etc are always the same and it gets stale. One prime example of a good idea being turned on its head and going wrong is RE5. Back in 2007 the trailer was amazing with Chris fending off hordes of majini by himself but the end product, while although fun, definitely didn't live up to what it could have been. As for now I'm keeping expectations on a medium level until I see solid gameplay footage

Well, different layers of damage, not even l4d2 has that.
They putting so much effort in those details where most wouldn't indicate some serious level of dedication, that andit being in years of development since it was first announced...

I Hope it will be a nice zombies game...
Maybe more serious than dead rising, it doesn't have that comic feel.

I think longevity in the developing process isn't a good thing because then they try so hard that they overlook certain aspects like Grand Turismo 5 took about 5 years to make and for such a long stretch it turned out to me at least very disappointing NFS HP is a better game in my opinion. I think there should be a balance in the developing process two years sound good because it gives the game time but also some pressure to build the game instead of too much leeway

I hope this game becomes a replacement for the Outbreak series.

4 player co-op survival horror. yummy
