    • I'm kinda sad to see how little people like it. I'm having a blast, although I haven't managed to do much. The atmosphere is terrific, with a constant low level threat that slowly grows in danger, so far the combat and skills are solid and I really don't see why people dislike the models so much. But then, graphics are always low on my list of thing to give a shit about.

And I'm not playing it co-op until I can sort out my wireless, so...

My only complaints so far are that the side missions don't seem to have the little dot thing to to lead you there, and the island is too huge to not have that kinda help, and the lack of a proper save system. I don't care if I have to have one save, but I wanna save when I want, or at least have places to do so when I want.

Touche, though BOTH proved to be equally shit options.
        See you in hell.

        • Looking at the development history this was always gonna release a buggy mess. I probably said as much somewhere.

Hopefully it gets patched to a non game breaking state by the time my rental service decides to send it to me.

          • After a two hour session with my friends on this, I can say this is probably one of the best coop games out there by far, especially the scale it allows for how you can just explore by yourself and have your friends looking around many miles away. Great game.

              • It took me less than an hour to realize how terrible this game is. I would rather play one of the alpha or beta stage RE mods for HL1.

                • Well after 23 hours playing through the whole campaign with Emma and a friend, finishing the story and 98%+ of the side quests, I'd say it was a damn good game, and hardly encountered any bugs. The quests were damn fun for coop, even if a majority was fetch related, but that didn't ruin how the quests mostly were different from each other in that respect and mostly were damn fun all the time. The best part of this journey had to be how we did our own things and quests while exploring the vast size of the Island, it's definitely one of the biggest games I've played in that respect, and the locations and variety, from its many nods to such classic zombie films and games (re animator, George Romero's zombie classics, Resident Evil, etc.), I will summarise this as one graceful package for the zombie and horror fan. The atmosphere without a doubt gets my universal praise and a thumbs up for how fun the game play was and building up your character. This is one of the few games you can feel justified in paying because of how much content is packed in for you and the potential for replaying (new game+ too!) and what DLC content can bring to this fun zombie madness. This is a solid 9/10 for me overall. I could see the developers trying to hit that note with what the CGI trailer showed but I can see the sequel delivering that powerful emotional impact further, given the insane money this game is cashing in to the publisher/developer. Kudos to Techland for doing a good job (I wasn't there for the first week of the bugs issue but got quickly resolved) on making a potential rich IP. Hopefully Capcom can take some notes of the games rich features for Dead Rising.

I could see why some people would be put off though, the animations and detail of some of its presentation might look like something from uncanny valley, or the already made characters you got to select. But I can easily overlook that given I've played worst games in that respect (Fallout 3 for example) so I don't mind the slight clunkiness in the game when how much is given to you. The sequel can easily remedy these problems no doubt but I wouldn't mind the sequel having a character creation system though! But again, I played through the whole game with friends so I don't know what the experience would be solely alone, I am sure it wouldn't have the same impact it did for me doing this multilayer. This is the best multi player game though by far this year, it allowed you to go anywhere on the world without area restrictions, driving your own vehicle (or being in the same car together!) and doing quests yourself. This is what sold the game for me.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot, I removed the stats (health bar and damage for example) from the zombies and hints on the HUD in the display option so it had more realism for me. That could be a distraction if people had that on.

                        • I'd argue this is a game where going on too long is actually a problem. The gameplay is far too repetitive for its 25+ hour length, IMO. The City, especially, seemed unnecessarily large. I still liked it, but it wasn't worth the $60 price tag.

You have an epic beard, you're British and you're a veteran zombie killer, need I say more?

As for the PS3, I'm on your friends list
