So as I mentioned in the other thread, I finished the game a couple of days ago.

I loved it, but I hoped it would be longer. Origins was definitely longer, now that I think about it. If you remember the Fade, Deep Roads etc. that was definitely a lot of stuff. So, DAII feels more like an expansion with improved interface/graphics.

Does anyone know of other games (similar to this) that take long time to complete?

I just got done with it. It was ok. Definatly not as good as Origins. I give it a 7.5/10.

If Origins had the graphics of DAII (which is not possible unless in the third installment they extend the story of Origins), it would easily be my favorite game of all time.

The graphics didn't bother me in Origins because to me graphics doesn't make a game good.

I'm on my 2nd playthrough of DA2, hard mode setting- and as a female mage. My first playthrough was a male warrior, who didn't get laid (surprisingly, since my character always gets laid in other Bioware games; most of the time with me NOT wanting the character to actually get laid, haha)

I'm actually surprised by the Hawke character customization- they've really improved the skin and hair textures from Origins. This also marks the first time I'm using the default character Bioware provides- the female model.

The ending did feel a bit rushed, but I guess we were just spoiled by Act 2. As far as the music goes: Inon Zur delivers once again. The DA2 OST is available on itunes for $3.99, though I wouldn't call it an OST. More like a 'sampler' as there is only 13 tracks, but 'Hawke Family Theme' makes it all worth it.

It didn't to me either, but looking back at Origins now, I can see a great difference. Nonetheless as you say, graphics don't make a good game.

Let me get this straight, there are 3 Acts in DAII, right? I just want to make sure, because I'm getting confused by all the Act 2 talk.

3 Acts and roughly 55 hours to complete everything (including all the sidequests); assuming you listen to every line in the game, and read every codex entry...

                    Thanks, that's what I thought!

I have yet to do all the side quests, but some of the stuff is indirectly relevant to the main plot.

I did everything in 25 hours, and that's all quests. Looking back on it now, there was many opportunitys I thought they missed on. However, it is still a fun game, but Bioware's weakest title this generation because of how rushed it seemed in place. At least the the third chapter has a giant opportunity to being great by the build up and feedback Bioware obtains.

How you managed to do that in 25 hours is a mystery to me. I completed the game in 23.5 hours, did all quests in the first Act but far from it (no side quests at all) in the 2nd and 3rd Acts.

That's actually pretty fast- I've had 50+ hours on my first playthroughs on all of Bioware's current gen games (ME1/2/Origins)...

I played it through mostly on normal (and through hard on most of the first act but then decided I just wanted to go on normal soon after to enjoy the the world more) so the difficutly was most likely the reason why I did it all quickly.

The first act has much, much more side quests than the second and third act. And after you've done a reasonable amount of quests on act two, then you can easily teleport from one location to another and save a lot of time by doing so. It doesn't help when you've got copy and paste dungeon/caves and you can easily just run through them, outside of any mob encounters, and just quickly pick up loot and anything of importance (I come out with all champion epic armour and weapons, etc, with about 90% of found gifts for my companions). Also to remember that I am playing on the PC version and hardly have any loading screens at all, and if I do they are only there for a brief second.

This is only all on one character however and I will go through all this again, rolling as a female mage who like to be a bitch to others (just to get my revenge on Ander's whining) and especially around the mage plot line, but this time on the hard difficutly setting. I'm quite the person who normally finishes games a lot more quickly because of how responsive I am; Mass Effect 1, doing everything, was around 30 hours with Mass Effect 2 being around 25. The only game I've really come out surprised on how long to finish has probably been STALKER and Deus Ex, and the reasons why for this is how big of a scale it is travelling by foot and not teleporting from Point A to B.

Yes, you are right. It seems that I actually did not do all the quests in the first Act as well.

I played the game on easy and used tactics etc. so it was a breaze. So your play through in normal setting does not explain it.

Are you certain that you completed all the quests in the game (did you check that up)? That's of course including the quests that you pick up from people who have "!" on their heads.

Yup, I even looked at the quest list wikia to double check. There were only two I couldn't do because of a bug (Fenris companion quest and a coast one) that didn't trigger them. but these could of been done in under an hour easily. The game is not as big and huge as compared to Origins. That game alone was done around in 60 hours (with awakening, excluding most campaign DLC) with around 70% of quests done. Dragon Age 2 has a small amount of zones in compared to the first title and that's why it can be completed with everything done in a small amount of time in comparison with other RPGs out there.

EDIT: Jesus, just saw on Gaf that one of the Bioware devs just revealed that this game pretty much was made in one year alone No wonder the title felt rushed. That's quite impressive when you think how much was crammed in overall.
