  • Official E3 2011 Thread

This year, the Electronics and Entertainment Expo takes place on from June 7-9. It's never too early to start talking E3, the biggest gaming expo in the western hemisphere.

I'll start up the discussion with 'news' from today that Hideo Kojima is expected to announce not one, but two new titles at E3.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) seems to come around sooner and sooner each year, and we're already starting to hear rumors about what might be announced. The latest rumor from PSM3 magazine in the UK is that Hideo Kojima will be announcing not one but two games. They write:

"MGS maestro Hideo Kojima's got some big announcements for E3 in June: one a quasi-logical step for an existing game, the other... well, we'd be shocked if MGS5 wasn't on the table at some stage. Or under it. In a box."

Hideo announcec two new games? wow maybe MGS5 can be one of them

...also can't wait for first real Uncharted 3 trailer and some new gameplay (hopefully in desert ) and Batman Arkham City news.

    E3 2011 will rock

Well, time to bust out the "THEY'RE FINALLY REMAKING SNATCHER!" pennant for the occasion once again, just in case. Yeah, the people who stitched that for me were confused too.

Couldn't care less about anything Kojima has to offer, then man is hugely over rated in my opinion (and i'm entitled to my opinion MGS fan boys, deal with it). I'm hoping to see something of the new Tomb Raider game, maybe GTA V, Half Life 2 Ep 3? Yeah i wish but come on, i thought the premise of episodic games was supposed to be they were out a lot quicker. There's really not a whole lot i'm even half excited for which is kinda sad

yeah, i'm pretty fuckin' sick of the Metal Gear handheld games. MGS: Rising is something i look forward to because it'll be on console. but at the same time, i don't understand why this series just won't end. its like they're literally just trying to put as much "plot" into the series as possible by making all these "interquels". and honestly, i think the shit is fine the way it is. i mean if i really needed to know everything, they might as well make a chronological book out of it.

as far as announcements go, i wouldn't mind seeing a new video on Diablo III and even a release date. and the long forgotten DOOM 4 would also be nice to see appear.

I've lost faith in Kojima to remake Snatcher. I'd be nice. But I doubt it'll happen.

If Kojima's gonna remake any of his games, it would have to be Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. I just recently replayed them a few months ago, and they're terrible games. The stories deserve to be told better, and the fights against Big Boss and Gray Fox deserve to be presented in a deservedly epic fashion. The MG2 final boss fight against Big Boss was absolutely awful. Quite possibly could be the most epic moment in Metal Gear history if re-done the right way.

If I could make one video game-related wish, it'd be for these two games to be remade.

I'd still take a Snatcher game over a MG or MG2 remake, but you're likely right in that I can only think of these two are the area that Kojima would likely retread in the series.

Years ago the E3 used to be a highlight of the year for me, but these days it just doesn't rate as well. Part of that was when they killed off the old E3 for a couple of years and people got into a habit of showing off games at other times, which they still frequently do. I'm sure stuff will be shown off I really want to play, but at this time nothing that hasn't already been announced is on my radar.

So, two announcements from Kojima Productions. I suppose there's an outside chance that one of them won't be an MGS title. Makes me wonder what happened to that "Project S" rumour that was circulating the internet a long time ago, would have liked to have seen some collaboration between Kojima and Suda51.

Perhaps one of them will be the Taboo/Devil project that Kojima is keep mentioning on twitter.

I keep thinking that Kojima has ideas but never goes through with them, instead resorting back to Metal Gear Solid.

All I care for this E3 is seeing Eidos's lineup with Hitman 5, Thief 4, and Tomb Raider, and enjoy watching the three conferences because they are always a laugh to see the cock ups and chartz each company does. E3 2011 is going to be good for software.

I'm not sure what to expect from the Big 3 as far as their conferences go. Sony has a bunch of games to show off that are releasing this year, such as Uncharted 3, The Last Guardian and Resistance 3. Microsoft has Gears 3 and will have to rely on some surprises up their sleeves(maybe the next Halo game, Bungie's new title) to make a big impact, other than the inevitable 10-minute dick-measuring of Kinect sales and how it's TEH GR8EST HARDWARE LAUNCH EVAR. Nintendo, meh. They had the best E3 last year...what can they do in 2011?

I'm more interested in the stuff we don't know about yet. I love the surprises that happen at E3.
