  • The next generation of gaming is coming

Looks like Nintendo's next console is coming late 2012, being more powerful than Microsoft and Sony's console.

E3 semi teasing the comfirm below too

Could it be? Tune in June 7th and see....

Take your pic; IGN, Kotaku, Game Informer

Our sources have said the the console is significantly more powerful than the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and that Nintendo's intent is to recapture the hardcore market.
ltiple sources have confirmed to Game Informer that Nintendo will reveal a new console between now and E3 2011 in June.

Game Informer's sources say the console is capable of running games at "HD resolutions," though it is unclear whether not it will be as powerful as Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Our sources have said the console's power will be greater than or equal to the PlayStation 3. Nintendo is reportedly showing the console to publishers to garner interest for a late 2012 launch.

Sources tell IGN that Nintendo will release a pre-announcement this month with a full reveal expected at E3. Sources say the console will be backwards compatible with current Wii software.
We have confirmed with multiple sources that this new home system is capable of running games at HD resolutions. There are conflicting reports, however, as to whether its graphics will be comparable to those on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 – meaning it could surpass or fall short of those systems. Either way it will offer competitive specifications. Moving to HD should greatly help Nintendo and its new console in getting more multi-platform triple-A titles like Portal 2 or Mortal Kombat. This, in turn, will strengthen Nintendo's historically poor relationship with third-party publishers/developers.

In fact, Nintendo is already showing publishers the system in an effort to get them interested and allow them plenty of time to start developing titles in anticipation of the system's reported late 2012 launch. This advance support marks a change from when the Wii launched. At that time, several Western publishers were outright surprised by the announcement, and it affected the software support for the platform.

    ...

"Nintendo is doing this one right," said an anonymous source. "[It's] not a gimmick like the Wii." What else, beyond graphics, this may infer about the system is unknown. What kind of controls the system will support (we imagine a need for both classic analog configurations and motion controllers) or what level of software and infrastructure Nintendo will provide for online gaming is also unknown. However, it's a positive sign that the system might be more than just an HD Wii.

Microsoft and Sony are not going to fall far behind on their next platforms either, wanting to get that percentage of the marketshare before the other is released with the 720/PS4.

Time to save your money folkes. Next generation is coming. I wish for such a longer cycle as well

God damn it, this is what happens when you both share the same computer and don't realise who's logged in! I'm not going to delete this and start it again

What a load of shit. I couldn't really care less about the Wii, but I think the PS3 and 360 still have significant time left in their lifespan.

This is how I feel about it the moment. Looks like 343's Halo is going to be a launch title for the next XBOX, I guarantee It (obvious it's Halo 4). E3 is going to be interesting!

Well Nintendo still has to "catch up" in terms of 3rd party support. I know Wii it's the best selling console, but most good titles are from Nintendo themselves, and the rest is poor 3rd party shovelware. I can see the Xbox 360 and PS3 going for 2 or 3 more years before their next gen iterations appear...

It will also do 1080p resolutions.
Nintendo's intent is to recapture the hardcore market.

I give it a year after Nintendo's console before the next console release (either from Microsoft or Sony).

It makes sense supposedly there was a large decline in Wii sales and now the more "hardcore" gaming systems have a motion function Nintendo has to go big to stay relative in serious console gaming with the sound of it I'm sure third party companies will want to be on this new system I honestly didn't care for the Wii but this might get me back on Nintendo .

              Notice this LOL

Sony releases PS2 ahead of the competition about a yea
Microsoft releases 360 a year ahead
Nintendo 2012 the year they take the lead in terms of console release

I can see it now, Nintendo will come out and say "We've got this epic console that does HD and is as powerful as the PS3!", only for Microsoft and Sony to respond with, "Um yeah, we did that back in 2006. We've got 3D stuff now."
                See you in hell.

I think it says it'll be more powerful than both and I don't see a new Sony or Microsoft system coming out soon

This, and i seriously hope Sony and Microsoft don't rush out their next consoles just because Nintendo is doing it.

                      Boring.

Expect much excitement about the announcement and it's released, followed by the usual drought of games within weeks.

Meh. Can't afford the horrific price tag the next generation of consoles are gonna carry anyway. 'Get your Wiivoloution Plus! Only £700!' Alright, it's probably not gonna be that bad, but still outta my price range until 2016.

Ouch! Where's all the love for Nintendo? Let's not forget that two of the best RE games began life on a Nintendo console!

Nintendo's last E3 was amazing and I can't wait for this years! I'm rooting for you Nintendo. <3
