Kinda of crappy timing what with Easter weekend. Probably not as bad as when XBL was down over christmas/new year though.

Its not the first time they've pissed off the hacker community, but I think this is the first time the hacker community got serious and screwed Sony over.

Anonymous seems to be who people are pointing fingers at. I would too, since they did vow to hurt sony bad. And honestly taking down PSN is a big hit. I don't agree with it one bit.

I'm surprisingly really OK with it being down seeing as home WWE SVR2011 I didn't have online for anyway and with MK I can just waste my time beating the game with people and since I have the numbers of my major PSN friends we're still in constant communication

I'm not saying that Sony didn't bring something like this upon itself. My point is more to the standing of why do people feel the need to go to such a primal instinct when it comes to retaliation?

Hackers are banned from Playstation Network; rather than accepting this because in some instances it was probably due to them violating something in the terms of service, they decide that crippling the service is the only way to go. Absolutely childish.

This is one of the reasons I absolutely detest humanity: Many humans feel the need to take their aggression out on the whole rather than the part that actually upset them. I enjoy the Sony services, so why should I have to suffer a loss...Simply because I use Sony? Ignorance.

Just because some hurts you...Bans your from their services...Kicks you in the balls...Kills your cat...Does it make you a better person to do the same in retaliation?

And I do really like your analogy (or Colbert's rather) of the internet being a hornet's nest. You really never know who you will find on the internet. I learned that while being one of the Administrators at Resident Evil Horror; but you do find BOTH good people and bad people.

I wouldn't be too quick to judge the hackers but this was my take on the whole Sony vs. Geohot battle...I'm quoting it from another article/post I wrote on.

Let's not antagonize the hackers that tried to make the most out of our systems and bring back other OS...which was more of a business decision apparently (..as of now that's what it seems. Do look it up).

Please, don't make this a piracy argument...because it really isn't the point at all. Some of these hackers just opened the path for others to create and run whatever (unsigned apps) they want which, unfortunately, led to some coders opening the way to piracy.

Sony's just trying to bury down Geohot as an example so no hacker rises up again (...pretty much scare them) which I do not condone because it's like Sony's using a terrorist complex and squish through it with the law by using it to their own advantage/benefit.

I really hope, Geohot wins the case like how he did with the smartphones and makes 'being able to modify your own console that you paid with hard-earned money' into a law just like how he won the case against apple...

I personally don't like the guy, but someone has to show the corporates not to bully their consumers (...especially, so aggressively).
For me this case was just simply, if Geohot would have won and wouldn't have settled, a battle to determine who was the owner of the system which by practically accepting Sony's EULA (that changes all the time I may add) makes the system you purchased with your hard-earned cash theirs.

...Knowing Sony's Deep pockets, things would have just dragged on even if Geohot had a chance of making modding your system alright as he did with smartphones in the US....but of course Geohot is no man with deep pockets to continue.

I know it sucks I can't get on and play my games online, but I can live with it and wait... simply whining about it would just be selfish and down-right rude.

Besides, there are other things I can do such as play the games single player or any other console or portable that I may have at my disposal...it even doesn't have to be gaming.

I believe sometimes, when nice things are given to us we become slaves to the hand that provided it and side with them unquestionably like hostages...that's why I can't side with Sony on the Geohot case and how aggressively they are going at hunting PS3 Jailbreakers (devs) while also invading privacy.

As far as I know, the DoS attack on Sony by Anonymous...On the grand scheme of things, was to prove and change things on the matter that Sony is trying to stop the flow of information (...in a way, Freedom of speech) and the DoS attacks are the only way they know how, because a simple strike would not work and Sony would just toss it aside just like many communist countries do to their citizens that don't resort to violence.

Well, it is human nature to rebel...so there!

It's just my honest opinion on how I perceive things on the whole matter at hand.

I also believe Sony had it coming and DoS attacks are bad, but I guess it's the only thing that at least would have made Sony flinch on the whole affair.

...Please understand my PoV and don't hate.

just because you didn't want to play online right now doesn't mean that the millions of players who do should have to suffer. its a community and the people who did this should really pay more attention to that. I don't blame sony for this i blame whoever did it, sony was attacked and so were all of us innocent users.

Problem with all of that is, when they bought the console and started it up they agreed to the EULA and the ToS that says the things they want to do to the console are prohibited...So why in the blue hell would you expect not to be punished when you are going to blatantly disregard the rules that where set out before you even started playing with the system. They knew the rules, knew the consequences for what they were going to do, did it anyway and know they are butthurt because Sony is pissed??? Priceless.

On top of it they bring down the psn woohoo so cool of them, yea now everyone that owns a ps3 can't play an online game because Billy took his toys and went home cuz big bad Sony spanked his little behind. Way to fucking go.

Nope, this only applied to when you signed up to PSN or updated your system (...this last one I'm not so sure about), if they made a new EULA/ToS they pretty much forced you to agree in order to continue using their services online before logging in or/and updating.

The consumer wouldn't know that when first buying a PS3 they abide by Sony's rule...that's just B.S. if Sony thinks that I'll blindly sign a contract without signing at all, lmao. xD

It's not like I care for Other OS, but the principle of the matter and how they acted upon the whole jailbreaking ordeal lately infuriates me. xD

In my honest opinion, Sony is no different from Corporate Bullies.

I absolutely agree with you here that we tend to become slaves of the products we own. We are all guilty of it at some point or another. I hope I'm not coming across as whinning about not being able to be on the Playstation Network because in all truth I could really care less about that. I can live without playing games online. My complaint is people being so ignorant to attack the whole rather than the part that is actually guilty.

It is human nature to rebel against establishment. Completely agree; however, when your rebellion infringes on the rights of others that is when we have a problem. In it's simplest of terms, hacking is an illegal action. It is an attempt to get something or do something that is not intended of the original product/service. If you want to use your Playstation illegally, by all means do so...That is your freedom of choice. BUT once you connect that product to online services, I believe you fall into Sony's domain and rules. If Sony says hacking/modding is wrong, then I believe you need to abide by their choice. It all boils down to the PR of it in my opinion. Take the P2P programs that were active in all the illegal downloading, Sony could essentially be sued for copyright infringment just like those companies. Even though YOU, the consumer, own their product, Sony still holds a level of resposibility of what can be done with that product.

I understand your point of view, and I do agree with you on some points. And also, I hope I didn't come across as hatin'.

Exactly, I get completely where you are coming from. The community should not suffer for the actions of a few.

Anonymous aren't involved in this. They claim no responsibility. They may be a bunch of ruthless, terrorising vigilantes but they are not liars. My guess as that this was someone acting independently from Anonymous with their own agenda. There doesn't appear to be any end in sight so I reckon this'll continue for several days. It's been ongoing since Wednesday evening.

Yep, I've read about that...I've also read a rumor on that it could also be a splinter group/individual within Anonymous that is doing this solely on their own agenda while disregarding the rest of the group.

                            CONSPIRACY!

Nah! It's probably someone other hacker that is doing this.....FROM MICROSOFT!!! xD
