Announcing a bunch of "new" security features they should have had in place to begin with like email validation for changing passwords that even the most basic internet forums use...

Glad to see Sony getting back on their feet again for their customers, but the damage has been done, and I'm still not giving them my business, not anymore. Oh well.

I've found this entire thing hilarious and Sony deserved everything they got, stupid stupid stupid move to have such a wide network so vulnerable. It sucks for the players but it has exposed just how much Sony really values all the personal information you hand over. It wouldn't surprise me if sometime in the future a lawsuit is brought against them for mishandling of data, i think it's already happening in Europe actually. It also wouldn't surprise me if the people who did it just saw this as a new challenge and brought the entire thing down again within a few weeks. I look forward to seeing what happens next.

I apologise for what has transpired here, to each and every one of you on here. You placed faith in our products and that faith was taken advantage of by malicious individuals. However, I hope that we will be able to put this behind us and move on. As such I'd like to say that we have a customer appreciation program which I feel will go some way to reaffirming your trust in our company.

I'd like to add that this firmware update is mandatory and a necessary precaution in improving security measures. I'd like to make it clear that we're in search of Carnivol, who we suspect was the individual responsible for the recent security breach. Rest assured we will bring this man to justice and he will answer for his crimes.

            Welcome back to the PSN.

I did that but you still can't log in to the psn because they haven't brought it back up yet.

well acording to the blog you actually dont need to change it by email if your account was activated on your ps3, only if you didnt have a donwload in the account then you have to do it by email.
