"Oh! That's just so cheap I can't pass it up! Heck! I should give some to my friends too!"
*bam* has 100++ games that he'll never play, but still paid for or got gifted by someone else who paid for *bam*
They should just set up a monthly fee instead. Not exactly into cloud gaming ala. OnLive (or whatever), but I seriously do think we're almost at the point where we should have a "Spotify of Gaming" instead.
(Also, I still hate the Steam Client app... at least it's like 50% less Internet Explorer in disguise now than it used to be...)

Steam's client is awesome, considering what it use to be like for the first five years during its constant development, it's really come far and still the best pc client for gaming. I guess you just don't feel the love they provide for PC gaming .
I don't see why the number of games or sales should be a negative since it's really a great way for people on wanting to play games they might not noticed or didn't feel the value of its original price was worth buying until the price was dropped, or a friend's reccomendation. It all boils down to the person if they wish to play or not, but that library will always be there if they wish to go back and give that game a play.
As for the cloud thing you mention, that's more for being able to port your saves and other data to another computer's steam client when you have logged in. That's been great for me when I go down to see my friends down South of the UK and we LAN (or other) it up. You'll never get any other service that can match its value for what content and features are provided at a no charge price, in the PC market.
I think Steam is a decent enough platform, it's got a solid architecture even though I'm not a huge fan of it downloading updates without my consent. However, it does provide me with a way to play independent games that aren't available on other platforms, e.g. SpaceChem.
Finally got a pc that can play worth a damn so I installed Steam and have tried some demo's n such need to get Left4Dead and Fallout and so on so I can get my MOD on but yeah if anyone wants to add me it's Baracuda1984 . . .
EDIT: Damnit I can't send any friend requests til I register or buy a game? Well I guess I understand that but damn it'll be next week before that happens . . .

Been playing TF2 for last 2 hours and I still have limited account . . .
You need to purchase an item from the Mann Co. Store and your account will be upgraded to premium, doesn't matter what you buy as long as it's something. You can even buy a weapon for 59p and that would upgrade your account. This also means that any drops you get will also include better weapons and items.
If you do go ahead with this, be sure to put my name in as the person who "helped you the most". Just so my Professor Speks can level up again, haha.
Y'all probably know this but Steam are doing a Deal every day this month and just viewing the Deal puts you in a draw to win your Top 10 wishlist! So give it a look. Today it's Left 4 Dead 1&2 with 75% off both. So the bundle is £5.74 (probably varies overseas ) better hurry you got 18 1/2 hours till it changes. Oh shi- so have I . . . where's my girlfriends credit card . . . snoogans.
