You can still play online with a SSFIV and SSFIVAE player...the only thing is that the new characters won't be selectable for the SSFIVAE player.

There's a free compatibility dlc for a reason for such changes....

SSFIV <-> AE cross-play also lets you play against people who haven't downloaded the free AE compatibility pack. But doing so will prohibit you from playing with the AE re-balancing and such (a nice gesture, as some will always disagree with changes X and Y)

The way SSFIV and AE work is there is effectively two games, if a SSFIV player tries to play a AE player the AE player will need begin to run SSFIV mode instead.


According to comments on SRK from Capcom the costume pack for MvC3 will work on UMvC3, however there is not event mode on UMvC3 so that is for vanilla only. It also says Jill and Shuma DLC will work, but the trailer made it look like they were included to me. Kind of crappy if they aren't. I bought JIll but not Shuma, but either way I want them on a disc.

Damn TAC got buffed.

In MvC3 all it did was additional meter depending on the direction you choose but now on UMvC3 each direction has a different effect.

Up = More Damage.
Left/Right = Reduce 1 meter from your opponent.
Down = Get 1 meter.
