  • New Darkstalkers game in the works! (?)

We knew it was coming, but during today’s Street Fighter X Tekken panel at the San Diego Comic Con, Ono and team announced that a new Darkstalkers game is in development. See the included image.

Update – Capcom’s Wes Phillips notes that they “have not announced a new Darkstalkers game”. This is just a teaser though, and I’m sure it means something is coming. Ono also mentioned that he wants to bring back the Street Fighter Alpha series in some way. Cross those fingers.

This is essentially my "I'm happy" thread for fighting games.

Yes. At least I know they care.

Let's hope it isn't anything but a game...or that isn't just to keep the trademark from lapsing.

Hopefully, they're cooking something up after SF x Tekken.

Was never a real fan of the series myself, interesting character designs and all...but it was just a more supernatural version of street fighter 2 to me.

Also vampires should not wear what looks like a spandex cat suit. It just looks silly.

He has a red shirt with a blue jacket over it and pants which match the jacket. The quality of drawing makes it look skintight, yes, but I think that's more an effort to emphasize the musculature.

Plus, yes, what sold the series on me originally was the aesthetic, but with so many variations of Street Fighter games around at the time you couldn't blame anyone for wanting to explore something different. Thusly, Darkstalkers 3 got a shit load of plays between my friends and I. I don't find myself too attached to the style of gameplay, so I don't care what the button mapping looks like, but I wouldn't mind if they went for the SFIV six button route.

The game was a six button game since the first iteration.

To me Darkstalkers was more than a Street Fighter with cool designs, it had advanced gameplay mechanics way ahead of its time (DS3 - 1997) which gave birth and led to the foundation of games like the 'Vs. Series'.
