XII would have been a far better choice.

Well, this is clearly a cash-in project and to expect a FFVII remake in response to this is kind of rediculous. I would have much rather seen a FFXII rerelease, not only do I find it a superiour game (X is my most hated FF of all time, OF ALL TIME), it's something I think would be much better for a portable experience. However thinking about it, FFX is a lot less complex and is an extremely linear game, I'm sure it would not only be simpler to port over to a new system, but quicker as well. Still, I hate it when companies pick their shitty games and push it out there like it's something people actually want. I know, I know, some of you actually liked FFX, but you have to admit, it is a pretty linear experience that drags and drags

Alright! Nice to see some FFXII love! I've never understood the hate that game seems to get from long time FF fans. if anything, long time FF fans should love it since it has an old school, Tactics vibe to it.

*Shrugs* Maybe it was the belt to zipper ratio being too low..

It'll definitely be good playing it on the Vita anyway, maybe PS3 if it looks any good. Like Vector, I'm excited to play it on the go. I'm glad it's X, as I grew up playing it it's probably my favorite, good memories.
And hey, it could be a worse choice. X-2 anyone?

I agree, I really enjoyed XII, and thought it was the best out of the PS2 Generation Final Fantasies. I thought the characters were by far some of the more interesting Final Fantasy has to offer. I really liked the struggle Ashelia B'Nargin Dalmasca had just to basically get her country recognized.

"Permit me to ask: Who are you? An angel of vengeance or perchance a saint of salvation?"

"I am simply myself. No more, and no less. And I want...Only to be free."

And not to mention the voice acting. To me, Final Fantasy XII had some of THE BEST voice acting I have ever heard in a video game. Though I did notice when I was playing it daily, it started having me talk a bit more proper because I think I was subconciously trying to emulate the characters.

Judge Magister Gabranth...Sort of a cliched character...The one who starts out evil, but eventually turns good. Gabranth definitely had the Darth Vader Complex, but I thought his suit and look was bad-ass. (It's probably no shock I like Gabranth. I mean, a lot of my signatures and avatars are of him).

Final Fantasy X? Gah, I could live without it being in HD. I have never seen the appeal to this game nor the heavy fandom for Yuna. So many people I know seem to fawn over Yuna. Blech. I just really couldn't stand the idea that dead people could basically be alive until they were "sent" to the Farplane. You died, you are dead...End of story. It just made it more complicated than it needed to be, and left too many questions in my mind.

...So my character died, but because I used a phoenix down, I don't have to be sent to the Farplane...But I killed Maester Seymour, so why don't the Guado just a phoenix down on him...See? PERPLEXION!

Mostly, I didn't like the overall "look" of the game. It just looked tacky. I will definitely pass on this.

I couldn't even finish XII. I got so bored with it after about 15 hours in that I just stopped playing it and never went back. FFX kept me entertained from beginning to end, although silly at times. And it has one of the greatest FF characters ever to anchor it -- Auron is the ultimate badass.

Agreed, and 12 is the game that just sits there and masturbates.

I've always wondered whether your avatars were Basch or Gabranth, and now I know! Haha! Totally agree, the dialogue was superb, as was the voice acting. It really felt like a big step up from FFX, (As much as I love FFX, the voice acting is iffy and the story is.. Poorly written..) it felt more.. Mature than the other games. My only problem with FFXII is the choice of main character. I remember reading that Basch was supposed to be the main character, but they decided he was too old for players to relate to. Laaaaame.. :/..

I do like FFX, though. I enjoyed the look of the game. I've always loved the mix of scifi and fantasy in FF games, and FFX felt like the game to really make it pop. Some of those cutscenes still hold up today!

I never really saw XII as having an actual main character. To me, Final Fantasy XII didn't focus much at all on Vaan. Granted, it seemed like we played mostly as Vaan, but a lot of the story focuses on Ashe, Basch, and Balthier. In the other Final Fantasies, the main chracter is really defined...VII (Cloud)...VIII (Squall)...Et cetera. The heaviest character, I always saw as Ashe; most of the game focuses on her. If you think about it, nearly every motivation in the story is because of her trying to reclaim Dalmasca. Vaan just seemed like some stupid kid that got mixed into the whole thing.

I agree with Final Fantasy X being poorly written and I think that was my main issue with the story. It just didn't flow well, and seemed like they were trying to put things in there that just didn't belong. The only parts I found to be interesting were the Maester Seymour sightings, and the confrontation with Lady Yunalesca. Hopefully, Square will leave X-2 untouched; that abomination needs to be put to rest and never talked about again. *shudders* Such a horrible, horrible game...

And yep, signatures/avatars were always Gabranth...I didn't really like Basch for some reason. I seem to have a thing for video game characters with blonde hair, blue eyes...I guess subconciously that is what I deem to be perfection...Weird.

Judge Gabranth = Blonde hair, blue eyes
Chuck Greene = Blonde hair, blue eyes
Alexia Ashford = Blonde hair, blue eyes

...You should do a no helmet Gabranth fan art, PracticalAl...It would be interesting to see your take on him.

                    EDIT:
Based on your DeviantArt page, I'd say you have a little bit of a liking for blonde/blue eyes too...Wesker (pre-mutation), Ashfords, and Krauser...

FF12? Hell no. Generic and repetitive towns and environements, boring political plot... Not even talking about the battle system where you can basically take a nap each time you encounter a monster.

The only FF I haven't yet finished. It just feels like an offline MMO rpg.

FFX? HD? Yeah, I can go for that.

As for XII, dull much? I only bought the Collector's Edition, used, for the extra DVD. I played the game and within five or six hours I was done. It's sooooo slooooow. I dunno how that works, considering X is turn-based and XII is ATB, but I found the action infinitely more exciting in X than XII. The graphics were pretty but that's about it.

FFXII will probably get a HD remastering at some point.

The 10 remake is more than likely simply because it would be easier and quicker to knock up. All they really have to do is switch out the Ingame models for the Cutscene models, throw a few new textures on some of the environments and enemies, and they are pretty much done and everyone will go "Wow, it looks so good". and pre PS2 era would really need its content recreated as it couldn't really be easily and quickly polished to "HD" standards.

But there are plenty of other FF's that deserve a graphical Upgrade.

I always thought the story was more about the world and we just experience it through the characters.

I pretty much hate every FF story outside of XII because they all character focused and have shitty love plots and such. XIII wasn't so bad but that one was just full of contradictions, plotholes and things that just didn't make sense.

XII battle and world system = awesome. I don't know why people complain of gambits, telling each character to attack the party leader target every single battle and even within battles multiple times for example is just a mundane and tedious task. But if you love doing that then you just turn gambits off so the issue doesn't exist.

Exactly! If anything, the plot revolved around everyone, there was no need for a main character, and no need for Vaan and Penelo. They felt shoehorned in to please Nomura FF fans. This is really a nitpick on my part, but it does bug me. I think the plot could have been told just the same without including them.

Haha, I drew many a fan art back in the day. They were mostly Balthier and Fran, since I love those two to death. Maybe someday when I return to fan art, I'll draw him for you!

The blonde hair blue eyes thing is just a coincidence! I'm more of a black hair gal. Tall, dark and handsome. Cliche, but I love it. * u*..

I thought the towns were done well, and I especially loved the Ivalice setting, since that was the same world in Tatics. The political plot was another reason I loved the game. Felt more mature than Nomura's childish and convoluted stories. (Not that I dislike any of them..) For once the story didn't revolve around some whiny, emo kid. The whole world wasn't at stake either, it was just a war amongst nations. It was a nice change of pace. Strangely enough, its probably the most realistic FF game. > u>..

I know! If you don't like gambits, turn them off! It plays just like the old games when you do. (I personally prefer them. Specifically fighting the monsters with HP over 1,000,000,000.. Haha..)
