FFXII is repetetive?! Lol, I'm not going to mock your opinion, we're all entitles to one, but that makes me chuckle a little. This is FFX in a nut shell for me:

[Go to town, explore temple, kill Aion, get summon, move on, grind off elemental materials, apply to weapons/armour] x repeat

The game is so linear it's rediculous, you basically follow one straight path right from the beginning all the way to the end, doing the same tasks, collecting the same items, killing the same enemies with nothing differentiating them but different colour palets to represent elements. The game's a snore fest, at least FFXII was an open ended world with a whole medley of different tasks for you to do, like hunts or side quests, and the strategy involved in the gambit system was actually extremely deep regardless of how generic and auto pilot it might seem. The international version is even more deep having a class system and makes it a whole different experience, I love it. I've tried to play FFX numerous times and not one, NOT ONCE have I ever completed it. I can confidently say I will never complete FFX, and that includes it on the PS Vita.

Final Fantasy XII was just boring and slow in my opinion.
The International version has a turbo button that fastens battle speed, and there's also new jobs, you can control your allies and summons, and a lot more.
I want to try this to see if this tides me over. I'm hopeful.

You could control allies in all versions.

Not really comparable to FFVI or FFVII HD honestly, it's really just a matter of how little effort can be put in for a bigger profit, nothing more. FFVII would likely have to be a remade, while FFVI would need redrawn sprites, etc. Essentially another remake. FFX is simply rendering at a higher resolution, similar to how an emulator works. Minimal money spent, big gains. It really wasn't choice as much as it was logistics for the company honestly. I'm sure the latter will be released at some point, but will obviously be much bigger projects in comparison to a port, which is all this is.

*Shrugs* Maybe it was the belt to zipper ratio being too low..
I disliked it because of two things, mainly. One, they took out the turn-based system. Whenever I think FF, I think turn-based. Second, half the plot felt like it was stolen from Skies of Arcadia. It was an alright game, I just couldn't get into it very well. I felt compelled to beat it just to say I had, rather than out of enjoyment.

I'll be getting the FFX remake. Story's shit and the characters suck, but screw it man. BLITZBALL FOREVER. I can finally rebuild my old blitz team. My FFX save passed 200 hours, and I swear more than half that was just blitzball. Scouting and playing, nothin' else.

Actually a lot of the Final Fantasy games are time based (ATB), not turn based (like FFX), so regardless of the gameplay being in real time the system is still faithful to it's roots.

Yeah, I mis-wrote it. The whole free-roam aspect was what I meant. My mind seems to think that's turn-based. Bah. But yeah.

FFX to get the HD treatment... why?

                  Why?

It only sold 6.6 million copies.

                  Its a no brainer.

Eh, it's not as though half the other companies in existence aren't doing the same thing right now. HD upgrades are cheap to make and so almost pure profit - a nice little trick in the current economy.

You take the game, your render it in a higher resolution in about five minutes, you ship and make money.

Yeah, this, although not quite in five minutes.

You pay to upgrade the graphics - a minimal investment. As Enrico pointed out, they'll probably use the models from the Cutscenes to replace the in game models, and just have to do upgrades for anyone who doesn't sit around in cutscenes. Upgrade the backgrounds too and voila! HD remix. No paying for plot, characters, storyboards, planning, music and the like, no betas that need altering, no serious problems. It'll take a small team months to do, and the teams wages are basically the only outlay bar distribution.

Plus if they weren't cheap, easy and profitable we wouldn't see so many of the damned things
