I enjoy competitive multiplayer and co-op multiplayer for what they are. They can be annoying and frustrating as hell, but I try not to get TOO worked up about it. The only times I get really pissed off is when people exploit imbalanced aspects of games...or when they camp like bitches or use noob tubes. Most of the time when you die in an online game, it's your fault, but there are circumstances when the people you're playing against are playing like pussies and it makes me want to skin a cat and punt a baby in the same motion.

I don't stink at Online, pretty much only suck the first few rounds of a new game but after 1 or 2 matches I come out in the top 4 without any of this ranking weapon bonuses (Bioshock 2 I sucked the first round, 2nd I was 1st for most of the match, finished 2nd).

I just hate the disrespect. I don't go into an Online game to be rude, trash talk, use "Racial" or "Sexist" comments just to win a game and I just don't expect to get it back.

I'm happy enough playing with Friends online, cos then trash talk, being cheap is just fun.

My brother used to be very competative on COD3 until one day he retaliated with such a horendous racial slur, since everyone was pretty much doing it on COD 3 all the time, he actually turned the console off, turned to me and said "Did I really just say that?!" and never played the game seriously since then.

    Anonimity pretty much breads stupidity.

I like when you're playing people from non english speaking countries and the only english they bothered to learn is "F-you" and the like.

But honestly, mute is there (in most cases) for a reason. It shouldn't be an issue.

        ...?

I've not played an MMO for years, but I remember once my uber level doc was in a lowbie grinding area outside healing some clanmates, out of the blue some random lowbie came running at me with a massive train behind him screaming "HELP HELP PLZ I DIEING!" in chat. Is this what you mean? Clearly an idiot for pulling so many mobs and then training but at least he ran to the uber doc.

Look something like this, only with big rock monsters doing the chasing:

What bothers me more in online games isn't the people but the fact that some games don't have a mute button option.
          See you in hell.

I hate it. Mostly because I'm a bit old-fashioned when it comes to playing games. I don't just see the point of it. Plus, with the foul language these children online are using, why bother?

As you can see now you are not the only one, I don't like online gaming as well and I think EXACTLY what you said... I know how people say Uncharted online, Assassin's Creed online and many others are great online experiences but i just don't see why they needed an online feat on the first place! It would have been better (at least on my opinion) that instead of all that multiplayer BS, they made the singleplayer longer and better! I mean Metal Gear Solid?, Assassin's Creed?, Uncharted?, what's next? GOD OF WAR: Online?!

I don't hate online nor do I mind the cursing, racial slurs, sexist, etc.

I'm very open-minded so why bother myself with such petty and unintelligent slander, I just choose to ignore it or mute it if it's very constant and becomes background noise. In other words, I don't let it get to me and in the way of my in-game focus.

There's one thing that annoys me to no end when it comes to voice-chat in online gaming....Players playing music in the background, it drives me crazy! xD

Also, I'm a firm believer that you shouldn't blame online gaming as the cause of diminishing the single-player experience. Blame the developers who wanted to focus on it and drive all their resources (or spend less overall) into the multiplayer component and leave the single-player/story-driven audience behind.

Both components can be ultimately great, it just happens that devs rather be lazy with an Ultimate multiplayer and an incomplete single-player (as long as they add one) experience. If it were acceptable to not include a single-player campaign, I'm sure many would do it because it would still sell and be highly more profitable.

I only enjoy online gaming when it is with people I know because I know they wont be shitty when it comes to online.

I don't necessarily mean shitty players, I mean that they will help when on a team and actually want to play properly, not as some moron who just wants to piss people off.

I think it depends on the music/sound.. if its cRap, then they instantly go on mute.. but a lot of people like my Barry Burton soundboard for example.. "Whooa! This hall is dangerous!"

It's just not the type of music that bothers me much, it's mostly for the fact that it sounds quite choppy and doesn't let me hear other people.

MMORPG's always boils down to ''kill x mobs there'' or ''find x there,'' or grind till ''item x drops out.''
Simply put, MMORPG's are repetitive, and I simply can't play a game, for which I know there are limitations in gameplay because it's an MMORPG.
