I love it when media does that. They take a freakish natural phenomenon and apply it to us. It's like how the conception and birth of Ridley Scott's Alien is based off of those egg-laying wasps.

I watched a documentary on either a fungus or plant that did that, and it was quite amazing. It followed the life of that particular ant, and then BAM! dead with a plant growing out of its head. Very odd form of nature.

This definitely has an I Am Legend type of feel to it, and that trailer was pretty good. I just hope it isn't like Dead Island; recall that had a decent preliminary trailer, but got a number of complaints because some people didn't get what they were hoping for. I haven't played it, but just remember a friend talking about the trailer and being disappointed with the actual game.

The game doesn't have the same sense of melancholy and tragedy the trailer had, which is sad. It's a good game, and I say that as someone playing it via single player, but it has some serious flaws that simply shouldn't be in a game that was in development for this long. If it had been released when it was initially due out, it might have been a Game of the Year contender.

And yeah, I gotta admit, fungus zombie is creepy because it does seem to be based on something real. That adds to the creep factor, the idea that this fungus is only a few mutations away from fucking up humanity.

While the trailer was awesome, I think the developers of Dead Island shot themselves in the foot with it because it made people expect that kind emotional impact through hours of gameplay.

I liked the Last of Us trailer, looks a lot like I Am Legend.
