Yeah. The "one size fits all" treatment of the decapitations and such in RE5-6 loses a bit of the "magic" of the RE4 decapitations.
First run in with the chainsaw ganado in RE4 was a moment of "Oh fuck!" and not everyone even lost their head to him, but when/if it happened, he took it clean, no pausing to give a dodge chance or anything. He just swooped in and took your head off like a knife through butter. It's still quite shocking and disturbing, to be honest. Not a single ounce of cool is enough to stop that chainsaw.
Also, the problem with gore and torture porn like Saw is that you need to present it as something believable for it to have an effect. You need to be able to connect with the people and "feel" their pain for it to work, or else it just ends up being silly (or revealing of your own unempathic tendencies)

PCGames.de Preview Details
Highly reduced HUD; there are almost no interface elements
- Ring menu for weapons and inventory
- Quick item selection on the D-Pad
- Medipacks
- You'll encounter a man with a chainsaw and dozens of angry enemies at the beginning, just like in RE4 - but it plays differently due the set of options like being able to set traps etc.
- One trap is a mine full of nails
- There isn't much music which is why the game feels even more terrifyingsigpic

Man I just wish Hideki Kamiya would come back to the series or make a new horror game as well. Mikami and Inafune's games are okay too but Kamiya was the one who directed RE2 (imo) i.e. the best RE game ever, so why not let him have another shot at the horror genre? I mean the last RE game he worked on was Re0, and I think that was mainly just on pre-gamecube work. Maybe him creating the Devil May Cry series (off of RE4) is what led him to go off the beaten horror path and more into the action style driven games (sans Okami). Kind of off topic with this but I wish we had another Viewtiful Joe game from him too.

Anyway, that dude actually reminds me of Ray Liotta when he was younger.
