  • Just watched Nintendo E3 conference.

Haha, they haven't learned shit all why people dislike the Wii because they've just thrown more of it at people. Aside from ZombiU every core game they showed was a multiplatform game or a game that release already on current consoles, in some cases bad games like Ninja Gaiden 3. ZombiU shows potential that could be good, have to find a full gameplay run see how it plays in full. 2D Mario though as one of the big showings? Twice no less. No...especially hen so lazy that still add 2 Toads that people complained about in the Wii game.

Aside from ZombiU there is absolutely nothing that interests me about WiiU. Sony conference has the largest amount of great games this year. They win.

    • Sony fan likes Sony, Nintendo fans like Nintendo.:/

Nintendo is more interested in showing off hardware this year though, doesn't always work when you don't have much software to show with it.
They have 1 more day, wonder if they have anything special to show on it?

      • DIdn't really show off the hardware though, aside from going over stuff about the controller we already know they didn't touch on the power of the console, probably a good thing too since the graphics looks on par with current consoles.

        • I wonder if Nintendo will ever really embrace an episodic type of DLC for the games?

Like a Legend of Zelda gave that had a 6 chapter DLC side quest that was released monthly?
They always put a lot into their games, and if they did that with some DLC it'd add a longer lifespan overall.

          • Considering the beefed up PSN Plus that Sony detailed at the press conference. . .I've finally decided to cancel my xbox live subscription(which renews this month, actually), and switch to Plus. I haven't used any xbox live "gold" features such as online play and cross game chat in 2-3 years, to be honest. I've been rather critical of PSN Plus in the past, but I think I gotta give Sony credict for sticking with their game plan and building a real alternative to Live. If you own both consoles, there's no real sense in paying to play online and cross-game chat when the competitor does it for free--and Skype is far superior to either game's console chat capabilities. So offering free games and discounted ones(not new, of course) has pretty much one me over.

No offense intended here man, but you just repeated the concept of what you said earlier here and so otherwise it's redundant comment in reply. I never disagreed with you, nor was I ever implying anything other than my RE5 example for the franchise for mo-cap/separate voice (it would be very stupid of me to try and use Biohazard as an example of consistent voice acting franchise and I never was saying that at all - where you got that from is beyond me).

I'm well aware of the history/background of why it was done in RE5 as well, so you don't need to tell me. It's just a good example of a very cinematic piece of work where the main character (and main villian) was voiced by someone other than the mo-cap actor and you can't tell the difference. Thus just the point that it can be done and Ubi's use of it as an excuse that it can't be is a pile of horseshit.

If they wanted him to come back I'm sure he would in a heart beat.

Oh I'm sure. Again I don't disagree at all. I see there are people making petitions already and the like. But I'm sure there is more to it than just the touted mo-cap thing as well, but we'll see what happens I guess.

Actually with PS+ you will quite often find day one discounts on many new games. Usually something like 10-20% off, though sometimes as big as 50%. Sometimes a brand new game is available free (not to own, just until PS+ expires).

Is a really great service. Mine expired last week but only because was waiting to see if they were gonna offer different tiers based on rumours. Now gonna wait until tomorrow to see if they offer a discount on a year or a bonus offer.

                • I've been catching up on the Nintendo stuff, reasonably lackluster. I really though Nintendo would be showcasing all the powerful things you could do with the controller a lot more and more games, but really wasn't. Mostly the 3rd party games made better attempts and even then most of it was just stuff that would have been in menus anyway. ZombiU seemed to make the best case that I saw but thats probably because it's new IP built around the control concept, where as stuff like Batman mostly just altered the stuff you could do already (barring one or two things). Some of the games didn't even really showcase the control at all and just could have been Wii titles.

ZombiU is what I'd originally hoped ORC would be, where you had to traverse the city and avoid being killed, climb in over under things, break open or hack your way into places, and try to survive the zombie outbreak. I think changing it to this over the weird alien thing was a smart move. It's the way a new Survival Horror should go.

I'm not arguing. I just wanted to give some insight into the business. In the case of RE it's clear there's little consistency. With the subject of mocap the preference has been "devil style" since DMC3 and with some exceptions to that rule they generally want to use one actor for the full performance if they can. It obviously isn't personal if they have Ironside in the new guy's defense and invited him out to look at the game's progress. With that in mind, it doesn't suggest he's completely distanced from the franchise.

The really cool thing to me is the new "free" games. I've been thinking for a while now how cool it would be to have a service of any kind that offered full retail games for download and unlimited play(like Netflix). But yes, the discounts are also a really nice incentive. I won't exactly be able to take much advantage of that in the short-term, unfortunately. But I was really wanting to get Virtua Fighter 5 showdown, and since it was one of the free games, I figure if I was ever actually going to switch, it best be now. I suppose I've given microsoft money the past couple years for jack shit for the most part. . .(though I did actually try to cancel last year by turning off the auto-renewel. . .but it glitched or something. Just turned it off through the Xbox website, as well as removed my credict card info to make absolutely sure they don't sneak 60 bucks out my account, lol).

The file sizes have no real effect on me since I have a 500 GB HD drive I installed in my PS3 last year. So hopefully it will be getting put to good use.

                      • @ Smiley - Yeah, very much true. I guess maybe they'll find a way to sneak him in somewhere. Pun intended.

Holy shit, I didn't even put 2 + 2 together on ZombiU. I played the original Zombi back in the early 90's on Amiga, never knew it was Ubisoft's first ever game though (the Amstrad version in 86 that is).

                        • From the Wii U Developer Conference, where no film or photo can be taken but press can tweet all about stuff:

Someone is asking if you'll be able to transfer downloaded Wii games and Virtual Console games over to Wii U -- an important question that I'd love for Nintendo to finally address.

"We are readying the system to be able to transfer saves and everything you've bought."

                          • F-Zero is going to be featured in some shape/form on Nintendo Land.

Metroid is rumored to be there as well.

Apparently Nintendo Land will be launched with the system.

EDIT: Well the rumor might as well be confirmed from the look of the Nintendo Land icons.

                              • A very very well written critical look at the concepts of doing E3 conferences, specifically looking at Microsofts but nailing the major three perfectly.
