May I just be the first to say, 'Wow, what I shock, I really thought he meant it when he said MGS4 was the last one, I wasn't expecting this at all!'

So, how is Snake going to get Youngified?

Yeah, the series is Kojima's gift/curse. It makes money, he obsessively coddles it like Gollum does the ring, so we can always expect a new one directed by him on the horizon.

It may well be a remake of Metal Gear 1 and 2, which I'd welcome with open arms. I'm all for doing battle with those deadly poisonous Zanzibar hamsters.

Seriously, can someone just point out where exactly did Kojima confirm MGS5? On the Official Playstation magazine, it says "The latest Rising and Metal Gear Solid 5 details." That doesn't tell us anything, really. I think it's all speculation over the cover.

Edit: In regards to the second image, I guess Kojima really wanted Snake and Otacon to be executed .

This isn't that surprising.

1. He has a reputation for wanting to end the series or at least step down as director and then come back to making another one.

2. It's not really required to have "THE" Solid Snake to lead your MGS title.

3. Peace Walker was made to originally be MGS5 anyway.

But I digress. This HD collection rules, but it's not exactly as perfect as I believed it to be. Surprisingly there's a couple of bugs in the PS3 version.

Well well well, looks like the rumors of Platinum Games developing Metal Gear Solid Rising turned out to be true! Spike TV reveal trailer below.

Definitely interested in this game now. Story and voice acting seems a little cheesy and over-the-top, but I honestly wasn't expecting much of a story, nor do I really care. I think that's probably why they removed the Solid from the title. Glad Quntiun Flynn is voicing Raiden though, and it does seem somewhat consistent with the MGS4 backdrop, so I expect nothing short of awesome. Hell, anyone who was thinking about buying the next dmc game should just get this instead. It certainly feels like a real DmC/Bayonetta game.

Eh, I'm a little skeptical of this. Totally underestimated Kojima when he said that it will be very hard for the traditional fans to get into. I'm glad they dropped the "Solid" out of the title however.
METAL GEAR SOLID: RISING was a spin-off intended to feature the actions and transformation of Raiden, one of METAL GEAR SOLID 2: SONS OF LIBERTY’s main characters, in the lead-up to METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS.
However, after Platinum Games came on board, the story was changed to take place several years after METAL GEAR SOLID 4 to give them more of an opportunity to show off what they can bring to the series. Cyborgs are spreading at a rapid pace in the game’s world, resulting in earth-shattering superhuman action at every turn!
The original aim for a combination of stealth and action has also been enhanced, for a more aggressive new focus on pure, exhilarating action.

As soon as the combat started I was like... hmm, this looks like Bayonetta... so straight away I figured the rumor of Platinum Games was likely true, only to have to wait about 20 seconds before it was confirmed. I think the whole "not killing anything" concept that was discussed has gone out the window.

The less this game has to do with Metal Gear Solid 4, and the less Kojima is involved, the better, as far as I'm concerned.

Bring it on Platinum. I had zero interest in this title before, but now it's shot right up to near the top of my most anticipated.
