1. Metal Gear Solid - Had pretty much everything you cuould ask from an MG game. Deep story, moving characters, plot twists, awesome environments and boss battles, music...it had it all. Also had my favorit eending in the series.

2. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty - Often attacked for starring Raiden and its plot that requires one to think. No doubt you have to be into the story to appreciate this game but as I do love the story of the series, I love this game. The areas outside the Big Shell were gorgeous and I generally liked the new characters (Solidus and Vamp mostly though)

3. Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake - Played it with my copy of Subsistence. It had many of the elements that made MGS1 so amazing. It's cast of characters and the story told throughout the game was awesome. All culminating in Big Boss' speech of his war-controlled vision of the world.

4. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater - To contrast with MGS2's twists and turns, MGS3 was probably amde to be very simplistic. There were no scenes that made you scratch your head (except when the giant flaming head came after you i guess) but it still told a deep story of how Big Boss became Big Boss. I also loved the underlying James Bond vibe they gave it.

5. Metal Gear - A fun game but lacking the storyheavy depth of its sequels. I sitll enjoyed it.

6. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - Lacking a thick story actually beats this tripe. Meryl marrying a character who originally had no place in the series other than as a comedic foil who shit himself all the time? Talk about kicking in the face the epic ending of MGS1.

As you can see I noted Meryl's marrying Johnny as a huge reason why MGS4 comes last on my list. The truth is, MGS4 ruins Meryl's character completely and I plan to do a video rant on the matter.
I figure if any semi-coherent anime fag on YouTUbe can do it, why can't I?

I just think her story being raped is overshadowed by how Big Boss' story is raped and the former needs more exposure.

i just played mgs2 and wow! i actually like this game now, exspecially fighting solidus with the kitanas

and on the extras music section on mgs4 , they added the song " Enclosure mgs4 version ", its such a beautiful song but its not as good as the first ( but REALLY REALLY close ) and " The best is yet to come "

Alot of people have been really negative about MGS2. I can see why, there was some plot details that were like "HUH?", but playing it and then playing 3 and 4...its not that bad at all. While it is my least favorite in the series, it still ranks higher then alot of other games out there.

I think what hurt it the most was not playing as Snake for most of the game, to me though that didn't matter. I still enjoyed Raiden.

I actually didn't mind the twin snakes game because it was nice that my favorite game at the time was getting a make over. However going back and playing it now, I feel it just is missing something. Even though the graphics are of less quality...the original MGS just has a certain charm about it. I think the VA, Music and cut scenes are superior. TTS cutscenes were...I dont know, a little too overexaggerated. I still enjoyed it my first playthrough though.

i think its becuse of all that slowmotion ( dont get me wrong IM A HUGE HUGE slow motion fan XD) but in twin snakes it was kinda just to much when u look at the old ps1 game and then that one.

Two examples that stick out are the first encounter with Gray Fox where Snake somehow jumps and twists as to not touch the C4 detonating wires and when you encounter REX. Snakes jumping ability is ridiculous.

i also bought subsistance today, ebgames had a copy for $20 and that to me is a lucky
find because the ebgames here never has anything good

i played the last fight between snake and liquid last night, i watched the cut scenes and everything and i dont care how gay this sounds to some people but i cryed, it was just so beautiful but sad at the same time because i love the game but knowing its the last game just makes me sad, but i wasn't the only one who cryed, otacon did too

Yeah MGS4 was probably one of the biggest emotional roller coaster games for me. I played Metal Gear for NES when I was younger so when it came to the PSX with MGS1...I jumped all over that and loved it. I anticipiated every game almost a year before they came out and bought everyone on its release date. I went through each one so many times I could probably recite the story word for word. Metal Gear Solid 4 was phenomanal and the fight with Snake/Ocelot just had alot of epicness and history to it. It felt like a culmination of 10 years of events for me.

lol i was playing mgs1 on my laptop today during lunch and i am playing on EXTREAM! ( harold and kumar quote lol ) and i was fighting liquid on top and i accidentally fell off, i guess i forgot you cant hang on to the ledge when your about to fall off REX
