I remember getting chills the first time Snake said "You tend to twist your elbow to absorb the recoil...that's more of a Revolver technique."

That was one of my greatest video game moments, playing through Act 4 for the first time. I, just like Snake, was revisiting Shadow Moses for the first time(not counting my hundreds of MGS1 playthroughs) and it was absolutely unbelievable. I had chills the entire time. If I remember correctly, you only started playing the series not too long ago, right? So naturally, Act 4 wouldn't appeal to you -- after all, the majority of MGS4 was pure fanservice.
I remember being short of breath during the flashback where you play MGS1 at the Heliport for a few seconds. It was...awesome, just plain awesome. MGS1 is still my favorite game of all time, and Chapter 4 was just an epic nod to the game that (really) started it all.Last edited by Vector; 04-13-2009, 02:03 PM.

I had chills as well when entering Shadow Moses. Because you walk in from a different side of the helipad than you did in the first game it took me a second or two to realise where i was. As soon as it set in where i was my jaw was on the floor, the flashbacks during the whole level were amazing.

I wouldn't say it was boring. The Scarabs and Gekkos patrolling the facility might have seemed a little lazy but it made for better exploration. And you can't call the Crying Wolf fight boring, or the Raiden vs. Vamp/Snake vs. Gekkos fight boring, or Rex vs. RAY boring...c'mon now. That chapter was absolutely epic.

i agree.
chapter 4 was just for past fans really.
i remember playing that chapter and walking down the small slope and "the best is yet to come" kicked in.
if i recall, i shed a tear. (I dont care how non-mannly that sounds its the truth)

i mean a motor bike chase through a city then Eva crashing and getting impaled in exactly the same spot and Snake saying the exact same things as he did in MGS3. come on at least think up of something new. plus Eva had her top unbuttoned like it was in MGS3, i mean in MGS3 she was trying to seduce Big Boss, but Snake is her own Son! what's wrong with her?

and yeah at first when i entered the helipad i was like, WOW cool! and it was nostalgic, but then after a while it just got boring and felt like Kojima was just lazy and didn't want to think up of a propar level. and the thing with the Crying Wolf and Raging raven and the other two was stupid, just another nod to MGS1 with the four bosses of that game. he was lazy so just decided to make the entire game fan service and a huge nod to his own work.
and the Metal Gear fight made no sense since the RAY should be able to destroy a REX easily since it's an Anti-Metal Gear Metal Gear.
also that little part where you play MGS1 was probably the best part of the entire game, which is sad since it's MGS1 not MGS4. so the best part of MGS4 is where you get to play MGS1.
also the ammount and Naomi Hunter fan service is unacceptable (upskirt or downblouse shot every 2 seconds), makes Jill's RE3 attire look repectable.
and the Snake VS Gekkos/Vamp VS Raiden annoyed me for a number of reasons.
1. it contributed to ruining Raidens character even more. plus it made no sense, Raiden can hold of Outer Heven with hhis shoulder blades yet struggles to kill Vamp? are you serious Kojima? yet Vamp was easily defeated a few years previous? what is vamp super powered like Raiden to? oh wait NanoMachines! *facepalm*
2. It demystified Vamp's character. and made him another NanoMachine junkie. i liked to think of him as having some sort of supernatural powers or something. like the Cobras or Volgin in MGS3. at least they can't be ruined with stupid nanomachines.
3. it was annoying in the fact that i missed almost the entire fight because i had to kill stupid annoying Gekkos the whole time that just kept respawning.
no MGS game was safe from MGS4's shitstorm of retconning.
MGS4 ruined the MGS series even more than RE4 ruined the RE series.

I just like the fact that despite being almost ten years old, obsolete in almost every way possible, REX still prevailed over the technologically superior RAY. Hell, RAY itself was designed - initially - to be a anti-REX weapon and look at that, REX in its battered state still manages to defeat RAY. Marvellous. Bloody marvellous.See you in hell.

good lord, that girl complains more than a child.
in my opinion, MGS4 is the best in the series. There's pretty much nothing i can say that is flawed in that game. Hell, its nice to see that i was able to play the hardest difficulty without too many issues - ususally MGS's "extreme" difficulty is well.....too difficult for meh.

i mean Snake defeats REX with just a Stinger Missle launcher, yet an Anti-Metal Gear metal gear RAY fails and gets destroyed by REX.

OctoCamo was just an automated version of the MGS3 system which took all the fun out of it.
Originally posted by ChrisRedfield29 View PostUgh, I hate that so much. "I don't like this so I don't think it's canon." It doesn't matter what you like or what you think, it's canon. It's so incredibly dumb to consider it not canon just because you don't like it. If you don't like it, that's fine, but instead of ignoring the fact that it exists, just accept it and move on.
Originally posted by ChrisRedfield29 View PostThe only thing the Beauty and The Beast Unit had in common with previous bosses in the series was their names. As far as the boss fights, they were all so different from each other that names shouldn't matter. And just to be clear, the bosses were a combination of bosses from all of the MGS games, not just one -- Laughing Octopus(The Joy, Decoy Octopus, Solidus's arms), Raging Raven(The Fury, Vulcan Raven), Crying Wolf(The Sorrow, Sniper Wolf, Fortune's railgun), Screaming Mantis(The Fear, and obviously, Psycho Mantis).
But you just said you only liked Act 2.
and ok, i liked Act 2 and the 20 second part were you play MGS1.
