from the console versions, its goes as pretty much backwards to what they are chronologically being with best one (my opinion obviously to the least favorite): MGS4 - MGS2 - MGS1 - and MGS3. MGS1 is great an all, but, the setting is, not the best to me.
when MGS2 was launched, that pretty was the baddest game anyone could play. graphics were the best, gameplay was revolutionary, the story was sheerly complex, the bosses were.....strange if i can say. the cut scenes really put that game together.
that game was my favorite for a loooong time, until MGS4 arrived.
MGS3 couldn't touch MGS2. didn't have what it takes because it felt like a "been there, done that" feeling, which was taken away long before its release.
the gameplay was "alright" but dated, i mean camouflage wasn't bad, but having to switch in the menu all the time was stupid - it was too bad they think of some color palette that you could press in real time to access it instead. having to heal your body was a nice addition, but rather pointless seeing as how you hardly ever get into a serious condition.
the only reason why even bought Subsistence was for parodies, and even though i got the theatrical disc, i only watched it once anyways. other than that, i can pretty much live without MGS3.
