Subsistence's main selling point was MGO1, their first try at Metal Gear Online.
It was alright, but the servers went down years ago.
Really? For me it was having the opportunity to play the original MetalGear games, fully translated and localised. Now that was a selling point. I didn't care much for the online aspect, namely because online architecture back then wasn't too great.

No, I agree. That was the main reason I got Subsistence as well. That was the first time I was able to play Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, both awesome games in their own right. Before that, I hadn't battled the Arnolds or Night Fright. MGO1 was a nice addition, as well, though...as was the new camera system that became a focal point of MGS4's refined gameplay.
i believe thats what alot of people bought subsistance for so we can play MG1 and MG2.
but i didnt get a chance to play MGO1 cause i didnt have a ps2 internet connection at the time.

The very last mission in Snake Tales is interesting to say the least. Though all of them were cheaply put together, hardly any cutscenes and with most of the gameplay being rehashed from the main game.
How many Snake tales missions are there? And are they canon?

Wait new camera system? you mean the crappy camera they used in MGS4 and MPO? so the whole game has that camera style?
i really want MG1 and MG2, is there any other way to get them other than buying Subsistence?
the camera angles in MGS4 were great there the best ones. cause you can look anywhere you needed to incase a soldier was behind you.
press R1 and you can do that same thing in the classics. Or just move the right analoge stick to pan the camera. much better.
i hate camera's that follow you from behind, they ruin atmosphere and annoy the hell out of me. besides MGS4's camera was more suited to action while the classics were more suited to stealth.

Fixed, top-down camera angles =/= Stealth. Your post makes no sense.
