Wow, that's...really soon. Looks like it'll come to the west sometime later in the year.

I just bought snake eater, and I'm havin a really tough time with the gameplay this time around.
I mean the controls mostly, I can play the previous 2 fine. But this one stumps me like I'm braindead. I gave up on it.
Is MGS4 up to snuff in the controls. Because it's the only true reason I would get a PS3, and I don't want stilted gameplay wrecking it for me.

Depends, because you're quite vague about what part of Snake Eater's gameplay is causing you the most issue.
Is it the camera? That was addressed by the team eventually and the Subsistance package has a camera you can move. Is it the Camo index? That's unchangable. Is it the item/inventory system? Is it because the controls feel un-natural in an jungle enviroment?
In any case MGS4's controls are mostly different, in that they are context based. So if you're near a wall a button with do one action, but that button does something else when you're not. There are 1st person modes that allow you to move entirely in that mode. The camo system is different, because you have Octacamo which blends, but then you still have options to pick outfits or camo types saved to memory. Camera is fully controllable. The inventory system works better. And there are various enviroments but the controls feel well suited to most.
I think you should try finish Snake Eater though if you are going to play MGS4 however, aside from the fact its farily good title outside of some of the gameplay issues, it's overall quite important to the story of MGS4. Either that or watch all the cutscenes online.Last edited by Rombie; 12-02-2009, 11:31 PM.

Europe starts Peace Walkin' on May 28th.
All that's left is a date for North America!

Sorry again, Europe. America starts Peace Walkin' 3 days before you:
Konami has made a date with Naked Snake for his next North American outing, penciling in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for the PlayStation Portable, expected to arrive on these shores May 25, 2010.
More good news:
Konami reps say "There will be a download sku as well as a UMD sku available at launch." Yay!Last edited by Vector; 12-04-2009, 08:19 PM.

Crazy character designs.... they're all older or younger looking versions of existing characters from other Kojima titles. Why do I get the feeling it's retcon, retcon, retcon. :p
Given the 70's time period, it'll be his father. He actually talks about his grandfather and him in the original MGS.Last edited by Rombie; 12-07-2009, 06:31 PM.

It's probably gonna be Otacon's father. He was born on August 6th, 1945 putting him in his late 20's/early 30's in Peace Walker. In MGS3, Granin shared his Metal Gear research with Otacon's grandfather who had worked on the Manhattan Project.Last edited by Vector; 12-07-2009, 06:41 PM.

So Otacon's wheelchair bound father successfully managed to drown himself while swimming, somehow almost managing to take his step-daughter with him?
Uhh, yeah. Fuck off Kojima.Last edited by News Bot; 12-07-2009, 06:50 PM.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

After seeing all these character models, I'm really not as excited as I was. The characters all look and sound fucking retarded. Hopefully the story will have some semblance of making sense and make up for these stupid-looking characters, because I know the gameplay is good...and 2 out of 3 aint bad.
