Always. They are slow and clunky, which leads into this...

The challenge of the game comes within the trial and error it takes to defeat the varied enemies
Trial and error is also one of the shittiest forms of challenge to a game, because it isn't actually real challenge.

A game with good challenge gives you good, fast response controls and leaves it to the player to react to enemies as things happen, not so in Demon's Souls. Many things in the game you can only be aware of by dying to it previously, you need know what is going to happen often quite before it happens, the controls are too clunky and slow to react to things first time in many cases and you need be aware of what attacks will be used so can react earlier. It is as bad as watching a guide on youtube so you know everything to do first and how to prepare.

Your comments are as mediocre as your claims.

I've watched over many people that have played the game...I see different outcomes, some adapt and some don't.
I've seen newcomers get to the phalanx without dying, reading messages & watching their surroundings carefully (I wasn't as careful and I payed for it several times).

There are clearly parts of the games that are made to be visited later or need an amazing amount of effort if the player's hasn't honed their skills...it's that simple.

The game doesn't hold your hand...and does not make your character more powerful than other enemies, sometimes enemies are much stronger. It's not Devil May Cry, where the game holds your hand and makes the player super OP and encourages jumping into crowds of enemies without a care in the world. The game is about studying your opponents, whether it's their attack pattern/stamina/damage out put (as if it was a fighting game) as you carefully approach them.

The game HAS good controls, and there's no denying it. If the game it's not the type of game where you can just jump into crowds of enemies & come out unscathed, which is your cup of tea...then you've been playing the wrong game and your opinion is merely 'subjective'. Simple as that.

So instead of saying "these games are terrible/mediocre", just simply say "These games 'seem' terrible/mediocre in my opinion" or "I don't like these games, because I think they're terrible/mediocre".

If you can't adapt to taking the game one step at a time, and let impatience take over...the game will punish you! It will simply become trial and error...until you learn!

Simple as that!...it's just advice. You can take it or leave it.

Stopped reading here. If you want to start a post by making a personal attack when I discussed nothing but the game then you've deemed your post not worth reading.

I welcome any discussion of the game only from anyone else.

I'm not getting into this conversation with you...it goes nowhere really fast. I would recommend to keep reading what I wrote and not be such a hard-ass about it, stop picking on small things just to fight/complain about it.

I did not make a personal attack, just expressing my disapproval (opinion-induced) for your opinion on the game and went to explain the reason as to why I felt that way, that's all. Sorry if it seemed like I was making an attempt to do so.

I would really appreciate if you would rather discuss about the points I made about the game, don't mind the criticism in response...but let's not make something as off-topic as "you said this or that!" & "you personally attacked me!". If you really insist on going off-topic and talk about how I made a personal attack, I would appreciate to have the conversation off the thread and take it to PMs.

I didn't make the thread to go off-topic with this sort of nonsense.

          ---------------------------------------------------------------

          Anyway, back on-topic.

The game is amazing and easily one of my favourite games in the past 10 years, probably my favourite PS3 game. I haven't been able to get money to buy Dark Souls yet but once I do I'm gonna binge on that game like no tomorrow. What do you guys hold on about Dark Souls? Better than Demon's or less awesome?
I wouldn't say Dark Souls is better/worse...just different. At first it may seem the better game because of how expansive the game world & content really are.

Later on, you'll realize (when you go back to replay Demon's Souls) that Demon's Souls has its perks over Dark Souls and some kind of charm to it....same for the other way around.

Btw, I also ordered the 'Hong Kong' version of the game to keep Demon's Souls online, after the sudden announcement of the NA servers shutting down (no longer happening; decision was overturned). I don't think I'll be going back to the NA version of the game unless it's co-op w/ a friend or someone from these forums/other communities. they seem to be pretty empty compared to the Asian version (Jap/Korean/Chinese servers) as well as I don't want to feel threatened again by another announcement of the NA servers closing.

The Hong Kong version seems to be the one with the least likely chance of closing down, since the game was published by 'Sony' in Asia. I don't know about the EU version, but I don't think it will last forever with 'Bandai Namco' having the publishing rights of Demon's Souls in Europe and Dark Souls worldwide...may seem to be the best course of action for them to close the servers sooner or later, in order to get more sales on Dark Souls. It would be beneficial for them from a business standpoint in my opinion.

Gradon. if you ever need any help/assistance in Demon's Souls let me know, whether it's Co-op or PvP.

Other than that, I would recommend getting Dark Souls...it's a really good game & slightly underrated at that as well!

They were going to close the American servers??? Wow. When I played the game two years odd ago, the Hong Kong servers, it was booming. The people on there were really nice even if they were Red Ghosts as well ahha. I loved how close the Asian gamers were and they were fascinated that I was playing the game as an English person back then. :L

I love the co-op elements, they're so original and rewarding. I will get back into Demon's Souls once I finally get into Dark Souls and I think I'm gonna purchase it when I get into Uni this September, if I'm not too busy with first year work this would be amazing to tide me over the weeks haha. I remember when Dark Souls was announced, I was so excited.

With Demon's Souls, what I loved most about the worlds was after you defeated a boss, you conquered that level. You were victorious and it made me feel so good that I had achieved that after spending hours upon hours on trying to beat the levels haha. The thing is, the game never felt repetitive and it kind of felt like an action MMO offline. I loved seeing ghosts of other players it made me feel like I wasn't alone in my journey. :L The blue ghost / red ghost element was very well done, and I expect this to be the same in Dark Souls? I haven't researched it much as to avoid spoilers but I seriously can't wait to claim the game.

Oh it's there! All the Co-Op/PvP elements & aspects of Demon's Souls are there, and a lot of layers have been added to the experience.

                  My god you're children.

"Whaa Dracarys said someting bad about a game I like, now I say bad things about her". Because god forbid an effort is made to discuss the actual game, including the bad parts.

If you cannot discuss a game without taking shots at people you shouldn't be discussing games.

                    On-topic people!

Gradon, forgot to mention that Dark Souls' servers (or lack there of...it's P2P...except for a few things like leaderboard-like features) are region free, unlike Demon's Souls. The reason why the NA servers were planned to be closed several times was because Atlus' (publisher of Demon's Souls in NA) funds were running low, and as we know maintaining servers up cost money. Something happened to 'Atlus' recently (undisclosed) that made them extend the server's life-span 'indefinitely'.

They might as well do a 'kickstarter' since it seems to be all the rage now... xD

                    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, I found this short animation of someone's playthrough of the game...before the 'Pyromancy: Iron Flesh' got nerfed (it was pretty OP, to be honest).

I wouldn't recommend watching it, as it contains spoilers (although, kind of mild at that).
