It was pretty nice... I was explaining to my wife all the differences of the game. Like how Harry Mason is the main character haha. Also I noticed in the tunnel at the beginning you can see Cheryl's name on the wall. I'll need to document these, I don't think the SH fans are as hardcore as RE fans are about RE, so someone will have to do it for them

Silent Hill - Ultimate Box should contain all the contents of the two disc edition (also included) on the BluRay disc.
(The 3rd DVD that comes with it is also a little bit sweet, ignore the crappyness of this picture as I used VLC to take it and it tends to get a bit screwy at times)

Thanks Carn.
And Dot, there are lots of other great looking MPEG2 BD movies. One of which is Black Hawk Down and even Four Brothers (which was on BD 25 as well).
Sony just did a really bad job with SH. I agree about the PCM soundtrack though; it's the single best advantage IMO of BD even with games.

Quality had nothing to do with MPEG2 or bitrate. Its Bluray, they through all technology to the wind and just stuff it so full of data it doesn't matter. What made it turn out "meh" was their capture of the film. But trust me, this is the best version by far, the older HDTV versions had horrible contrast in comparison. I wouldn't expect a new release to come out though, most people can't tell the difference. Hell, I still see people buying 5th Element Blurays and act like they are happy with it. Weird.
Actually I just did a comparison of the BD version to the HDTV version. Hardly any difference, seems that the original film just has crappy contrast. Must be another of the brilliant direction moves with this movie.Last edited by Krispy; 07-17-2007, 02:39 PM.

But seriously, I too would like this information. I recently got the Ultimate Edition of the 5th Element on regular DVD as it was only $5 bucks

The Fifth Element Bluray has been touted as the single worst HD transfer to date. In fact, the Bluray source was so bad that people used the satelite HDTV source instead. Here is an example shot. Blurry, dirty, and a general lack of refinement. You can check out a hd digest review here where the reviewer is more or less baffled as to why the Bluray looks so bad. The problem? A combination of a badly done capture of the film to digital media and a badly done MPEG2 encode.
I don't mean to sound harsh, but if you can't tell the lack of quality than you have a poor TV or lack the discerning eye for HD material.Last edited by Krispy; 07-17-2007, 03:04 PM.
