James and Heather are my favorites. I'm still not sure who I like more, but they are just fabulous and I cannot get over them. James breaks my heart throughout all of SH2, and the further you delve into SH3, the more I love Heather, because of who she really is from previous games and how she presents herself in SH3 itself. James is so tragic, though, so in some ways, I sort of lean towards him being my all-time favorite.

I've voted for James, Heather, Alex and Vincent.
James - the most intrigue character of Silent Hill franchise, whose mental pain you could really feel.
Alex - he was the most natural character from the main SH cast; who could have not drop few F-bombs when encounter by some creepy deformed freaks? But I must admit that he was annoying with his constant "I have to find Josh"... even more than Harry "have you seen a little girl?" Mason.
Heather - well, I just like her impetuous character and how she really didn't care for anything that was going on around her (at least until she came back home).
Vincent - the man's crazy. His eyes, his speech, his gestures... till the very end you don't really know whether he's helping you, or not.Last edited by Mr_Zombie; 05-26-2009, 03:38 AM.

I chose Heather/Alessa.
Heather was just living a normal life when a trip to the mall turned to hell. Not only did she Lose the only person who ever cared for her, she also realized that she was three different people. She has the memories of three different lives. She's in her thirties but is only a teenager. My favorite moment is when she chooses to be Cheryl.

"Monsters...? They look like monsters to you?!"
I chose James, Harry, Cheryl/Alessa/Heather, and Vincent.
James is my overall favorite, for obvious reasons in the story. People already said it, you really feel for him throughout the game and then you find out what he did... and I won't lie, I felt almost betrayed for rooting for him. It was crazy.
I chose Harry because, similar to James, I really felt for him. Just a normal guy who lost his wife, and trying to get over it he takes his adopted daughter on vacation, only to lose her too. Playing through the game really felt like a desperate struggle to find his daughter while everything around him went to hell.
Cheryl/Heather because of the problems she faces. She ends up being her own mother, and has to try and live normally despite learning this (near the end of SH3, I think). She seems like she's just trying to live a normal life despite her being, for lack of a better word... a freak. Not to mention that for reasons out of her control, she's wanted by crazy cultists to give birth to "God". Talk about being a victim of circumstance.
Vincent is probably the scariest type of person: one who's extremely intelligent and equally insane. They can really get in your head and whip it up if they want to. Also, in his final scene, he seems to be the good guy. He believes in God, but not in the sense that Claudia does. It almost made him seem like he wasn't completely out of his mind.Last edited by Canas Renvall; 08-11-2009, 10:27 PM.

Well see I don't think Vincent is insane, I just think his conflicts with both the protagonist and antagonist hit nerves that both make the player mistrustful of him. He is on Claudia's side inasmuch as his ties with the religion. From the characters and practices we've seen throughout the series, any connection with "The Order" would make someone, especially a priest, suspicious. In terms of Claudia, you get the idea that Vincent seriously betrays her by the end. While this isn't technically a horrible act, the way he dryly tells Heather to kill Claudia with his back facing her is low.
I don't think he's insane, but he's certainly a hedonistic and self-serving gray area. I love the characters in SH3.
My favorite character is Angela Orosco from SH2. I've always been drawn to tragic, left behind type figures. Her mood swings and near lifeless temperament give you a good indication of how conflicted, abused, and guilty she is at once. You just can't imagine this woman happy...at all. I was quite let down when she willingly killed herself.
