It's impossible for them to make a SH3 adaptation with the story of the first movie. The point of SH3 was that Heather was just a reborn Alessa, that she was still the girl that was meant to birth a God, so the Order wanted her to bring her back to Silent Hill and force her to birth a God. That however would not work with what they did to the storyline of SH1, where Alessa was just a little girl born without a father and burned by a bunch of psychos because they thought she's a witch. :/

No to mention what you've just said - that both Alessa/Sharon and Rose are stuck in the foggy world by the end of the movie.

I really liked the first SH movie. Yes, it was dumbed down compared to the first game, but it wasn't TOO mainstream. And the acting and production was excellent.

If the second movie is shooting for mainstream, then I'm worried. Is this true that most of the crew from the first are not working on the second? Such a shame.

It was only said that Gans - the director of the first movie - won't be directing the sequel; and that worries me.

Yeah, I heard he wouldn't be coming back, but I also heard somewhere that much of the crew and cast won't return. Forgot source, so take it with a grain of salt.

Pity Gans won't be back, he did a great job.

I thought the first movie was relatively successful. Why has it been taking so long for them to get the sequel going? Is it all because of Roger Avary's legal troubles?

I also want to say that I'm in the minority (I suppose) of people who actually enjoyed the hell out of the first film. It was as close to a Silent Hill movie (aside from Jacob's Ladder) we would get. I was especially shocked and happy that they used music entirely from the games.

I just hope the mainstream comment refers to stuff like how the first movie just randomly slapped in stuff such as Pyramid Head without any good reason what-so-ever to actually include him in any way.

You know... less "We need this and that, because it's how Silent Hill's been done already"

You're not alone. I personally loved the first film, it was awfully faithful to the game, not only because they used music from the game, or just a few enemies or names but the spirit of the series was just there... it could've been better i know, but we won't get enough of a videogame adaptation as long as we understand they just won't give us all we want. It's the director point of view based on the game. The ending was nothing new but it is perfect for the series... i'm highly looking forward to this movie.

I'd be looking foward to it if it still had the same director. I got the distinct feeling from the bonuses that the director was the SH fan and the writter was the one wanting to mix things up. As it is it seems like the ones who made the first movie the best videogame movie to date aren't involved, and news like this does not inspire confidence. It seems like half the team from the Afterlife are gonna end up on this...

I loved the first film and I look forward to this one. I just hope they don't ruin it with "Mainstream." Mainstream is why I hate people.

So it IS going to be based off my all time favorite story/game/idea/fantasy Silent Hill 2?

^ It's not in theatres anymore, it came out in 2006. You'd have to rent it.
