An early draft of the script from 2004 if anyone's interested in reading it, it has a lot of differences plus an alternate ending. I'll list them below if you'd rather just know what they are than read the script

- The movie starts in a hospital, with Rose and Christopher being told Sharon has a rare blood disease that's killing her. Sharon is their child, not adopted, and they learn they both carry the recessive gene for this rare disease. Rose see's a news item on TV during a prayer gathering at their house (organized by Christophers mother) about a healer in Louisiana and decides to take Sharon to see him. So there's no Sharon screaming "Silent Hill!"
- Christopher cuts off Rose's credit card, but he doesn't pursue her to Silent Hill. They're going to the healer, not Silent Hill, so he doesn't know they're there, Rose tries to call him like she does in the movie, but instead of being able to get through and leave a voice mail she can't get through at all.
- Dahlia is crazier, and is shown to be in pain more.
- There's no Janitor monster, so no leeches either, when the school changes the Gray Children attack and drive Rose to the room with Cybil, then Pyramid Head starts slashing at the door, you don't see him before this.
- Since there's no Janitor, there's no key to the hotel, instead an old TV flashes on with static with the number 111 on it and Sharon pleading for help being heard through the static. Cybil has a map of the town with areas crossed off where the roads have disappeared and they head to the hotel.
- Anna is found outside being attacked by a monster, if you've watched the making of on the DVD you'll know this scene was actually filmed.
- The town changes whilst Rose, Cybil and Anna are still in the factory. There are mannequins in the factory that come alive and try to stop them from running. Cybils arm gets broken here. Pyramid Head appears and catches Anna here. The town changes back and Rose and Cybil make their way to the church as it changes again, they just meet Dhalia on the steps then go inside, the group are already praying and there's no deceleration of them being witches. Annas mother simply labels them as being with the darkness.
- Cybil faints in the church from her injuries and isn't taken to the hospital. Christabella outright names Samael as the dark one.
- In the hospital, an elder escorts Rose down to the basement whilst Christabella and another elder wait in the lobby. The darkness comes whilst they are in the elevator, but not in the lobby, only as they descend. The elder tries to abandon Rose when they reach the bottom and go back up, but he's taken by a monster hanging from the ceiling of the elevator. During this time Christabella finds the picture of Sharon in Rose's pendant and labels her a witch.
- We see Cybil tied to the ladder, and there are two separate bonfires.
- Alessa was supposed to be beaten at school in the schoolyard, not the classroom. No janitor monster, so no janitor here.
- The demon doesn't come to Alessa in the flashback, Alessa changes the hospital room by herself. There's no Lisa either.
- There are birds within the church, and when Christabella stabs Rose they go crazy, trying to get out.
- There's no Alessa rising from the fires, Pyramid Heads form in the darkness. One of them carries Alessa to watch, Christabella is ripped apart by two Pyramid Heads and Alessa still dances in the blood. She catches sight of Sharon and approaches her, Sharon reaches her hand out and they touch fingers as Sharon faints.
- No "Mother is God in the eyes of a child" line, Cybil doesn't say this earlier so Rose instead says "You're her mother, she loves you"
- Silent Hill isn't covered in fog as they leave, they drive past a sign saying "You are leaving Silent Hill, visit us again..." They drive to the healer in Louisiana where Sharon is healed, and Christopher is there. They drive home together stopping at the gas station they drove through at the start for food. Christopher calls his mother to tell her Sharon is healed and they are going to try for another baby. Sharon is in her room drawing at her desk, but the mirror in the corner of her room shows the reflection of the darkness.
