Konami Reveals More Details on Silent Hill 8

Well, I count two new details:

      1)Everyday objects as weapons
      2)Side Quests

The former I don't care about. Still haven't played Origins, and as long as they don't have the harebrained combat system of Homecoming, I'm fine with it. Side quests IMO would be a nice way to wedge multiple endings in there, though it isn't intuitive as SH2's "in-game behavior system."

I don't mind the everyday weapons thing as long as it isn't like Origins. Sure, have weapons degenerate and break...but a fucking hammer doesn't snap after three swings.

The Side Quests intruige me. Until we know more, I'll leave it at that.

I'm also pleased to hear this isn't an action style game, it's third person and similar to the older ones. Huzzah.

No Akira Yamoaka is a definite blow to this series.

Tried to change the thread title but i guess a mod has to do it Cross posting from the news post, i'm not that impressed with the title. It's not bad, but it's not good either. Only being able to carry one weapon at a time that breaks isn't fun, it might seem to add a little realism but that just gets countered by being able to carry a bunch of items, it's a kinda lazy way to add tension to things. No hospitals/nurses is a win for me, i was getting sick of those (seriously, it was like Pyramid Head), but i'll miss the creepy schools. In the article, the line "you'll find some nice little tie-ins for fans" says to me they're throwing PH in there though. When it's raining being the Otherworld is sorta lame, and it sounds like its been taken from Deadly Premonition. If it was it's own game rather than a Silent Hill game it would be more interesting.

I wish I could find the exact tweet, but Phelous (he's an "internet critic," and a recurring focus of his videos is the SH series) quotes an SH8 developer in one of them. "I found the SH1 and SH3 stories to be a bit convoluted, and messy"

Yeah, looks like there will be no likable characters in this one, either. Glad to see the developers "know what they're doing."

EDIT: Oooh, this post reads completely hasty in retrospect. I'll wait and see, it could go either way.

Someone at Konami needs to send him a big, fat check and the soul of a producer.

Some new shots, these guys haven't played Alan Wake at all.

That actually does look a ton like Alan Wake... Even that one shot with the camera over Murphy's shoulder with the flashlight.

That could be good or bad though. Alan Wake was a mind-blowingly fantastic title, but it wasn't incredibly scary. However, it was dripping with atmosphere, which worked very well and that is what gave me chills during the game. Hopefully this game has at the very least, atmosphere; it's what Silent Hill is known for.

It does remind of Alan Wake when I see it, but that's because there's not much Fog like how I remember the begining of Silent Hill 2's forest when you look at that. This is a good thing mind you, the atmosphere in Alan Wake is one of the best things from this generation yet.

Looks like the best SH yet. Keeping my fingers crossed that it won't be like Homecoming. The one I've considered the low point of its kind! Sorry, it's just really hard to play and as a result, it's not that interesting anymore...

Not trying to dick you around when I say this, but please elaborate. I wouldn't mind a confidence booster for anticipation.

In terms of visuals and stuff, it's stunning. Also looks very much like a great horror game with difficult foes as well.
