  • The voices just don't seem in place with the characters to me, but that could just be nostelgic thought. But then again I actually like the new voice for Angela (because it looks as plasuable with the character), but not the others who seem much rougher and don't seem to suit (especially the original motion work). Troy Baker is a good voice actor for example, but the voice is just so rough sounding (like his work for Two Face in Batman) and just seems a little too over the top for the type of character James is seemingly.

I don't get re-recording some of the soundtrack, but I assume that comes down to the audio mix that was originally done and what they wanted to support now. Who knows.

But hey at least we get a choice. Unlike SH3.

    • I'd be interested to hear more of Maria, as i'm aware she is now voiced in the new HD version by Mary Elizabeth Mcglynn who is a highly respected voice actor and provides the voice for many of the music tracks for the Silent Hill series.

I also feel the same you guys do regarding this chap being a bit heavy handed toward the cause for Heather voice actress. People are only trying to preserve her work for fucks sake, not stalk her.

The audio mix and new voice acting supports 5.1 where as the original voices are only supporting stereo.

        • I knew that, what I meant specifically is it's odd that they remixed some songs and not others in the new VA version.

          • The female VA much better. I'm not sure on James' VA, it is more different than worse/better.

            • I used to love Laura Bailey, but she seems to be in every video game lately =_=

Angela, Helena and Sherry in Resident Evil D,6 and DSC. (The first two having the SAME EXACT VOICE)

and now Angela and Dahlia in Silent Hill 2 and SM with, once again, same exact voice. Granted, I really didn't like Angela's original voice and this one IS better, but is it too much to ask for some vocal diversity... Le Sigh.

              • Sounds like Mary Elizabeth might be using cast from Shattered Memories.

                • And again, Silent Hill 3 is brushed under the carpet. So annoying.

What do you mean? Has the game been delayed?

                    • No, they're just not talking about the SH3 HD part as much as the SH2 part. I don't recall seeing anything about it.

                      • Looks like the game might be delayed again. I just got a message from Amazon once more that the game will be out on the 20th now.

                        • Same day as Downpour? Surely not, though GAME have both listed as the 16th.

                          • LOL Actually I'm reading that the date for Downpour is the 13th. So HD would be out a week later and release the same time as Operation: Raccoon City.

But that's what happens when you try and mangle all your games into one month. Now gamers are going to be confused even more. If I didn't get my e-mail I wouldn't have realized this.

I think Australia gets a worse wrap though. Enetirnel has preordered the MGS:HD Collection and it delayed in AU while it released in the rest of PAL releases. Then it delayed a week further. Then it arrived three days earlier.

                            • Fuck, not again

I guess this gives me time to finish up Mass Effect 3 first...

Edit: And now it makes the pre-order bonus kind of suck. You get five dollars towards either Downpour or Book of Memories..So I guess you have to order Downpour after HD Collection in order to use the bonus? Damn.

Yeah same thing happened here in NZ, except the stores decided to stick by the advertised date even though it was sitting in their backrooms for half a week. Friend of mine called to let me know it was in so I could pick it up knowing I was looking forward to it, except due to a classification issue the Limited Edition pack with the artbook didn't come out here and so I've paid Gene to send me a copy from Australia instead. Irony too given the classification laws in AU is usually more of an issue there than here.

My understanding is here that Downpour and the HD set are already due on the same release day in Australia and NZ anyway, so I don't think any date slips would make a big change for us. All it would do is the same, put the HD set release after Downpour which looks to be the same as elsewhere then.

I can't speak for Enetirnel, but I'm use to delays in this part of the world... even delays on already delayed product, or very limited releases of items which shouldn't be. It's been happening for as long as I can recall in games. Konami titles seem to fair poorly above many others too because the AU distribution is poor.

I had to wait an extra 2 week for the original Silent Hill 2 release to arrive because of poor distribution planning and when it did it was a very high price of $140NZD, $40 more than the average PS2 game at the time. And when Twin Snakes came out on Gamecube, I was lucky to be online that day when a friend told me it had arrived at his store elsewhere in NZ the night before but he warned me there was limited copies nationwide. So I went down to the closest game store to find they had 3 copies only and the staff had reserved 2, and they'd left the last one out the back in case the other staff member wanted first dibs. But because I asked first I got it before he did. Very lucky. Oh... and the MGS4's LE with the Old Snake figure was limited to around 250 units NZ wide also, and sold out everywhere in a day.
