It's not a good idea. But more power to them. I still have other games in March on my list.

Aside from the potential obviousness of having to get all the titles out before the end of the financial year, releasing downpour 1 week after the hd set will kill its sales. People will look at the price of the hd set and remember the games they have played than pick it over a new title in the series they don't know in case it sucks. Downpour could be great but to me it just looks like they are burying all the releases before the year ends.

Well between the two I'd personally save up for a new game as opposed to HD versions of games I already own. But that right there. I'd choose Downpour over the HD set. It's going to divide sales. Someone who pics up the Vita may not even care for the new SH game play in Book of Memories and instead choose different launch titles, but if they did pick it up I still don't see that person going for the other SH titles off the bat unless they were die hard fans saving up in advance. In which case I'd be burnt out on Silent Hill by then.
Hell, I'll probably be burn out on Resident Evil, but at least they released their games a month or so apart from each other.

Yeah that level of violence wasn't what I expected. But if I recall right I believe the blood spatter on screen is optional.
It should be said though that there is an achievement for the game that you get if you don't kill any monsters. That will be a fun one to pull off.

Kind of a conflicting review, talks about the 'glory days' of SH2 and 3, but then criticises into Downpour for clunky combat, something that was a big part of SH2 and 3 gameplay.
I think this is why survival horror has major problems, what made it work well was the game mechanics of the day which were passable for the day, but in todays gaming they are outdated. If a game comes out with PS2 graphics now...people say it looks crap but last gen that would have been good. Game mechanics are the same, game has clunky combat now and it is bad but in previous gens it was acceptable.
If the combat is updated (like in Homecoming)...people complain and cry too much action for a survival horror game, and many critics will mark down for this also. Survival horror developers cannot win.
Personally I disagree with the action complaints and think Homecoming was great in the combat department.Beanovsky Durst - "They are not pervs. They are japanese."

I will wait for something other than IGNs shitbox reviews. Consistently their issue is to compare whatever they review to everything else and not really review the game for its own merits.
If you ran a review site it would be like making one line reviews for most games saying "it's bad because it's not insert one of five massive game franchises" on every single review.
