More interested to know what it will mean for ILM's animation department staff (Rango's visuals were very good).
ILM have been operating as their own entity for a long time as far as I know.

I am – Hercules!! That’s a picture of a page of the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, which just landed in my mailbox. Does Kennedy mean two or three “Star Wars” movies per year? Does this mean skittish filmmakers like J.J. Abrams...

Yeah...2-3 star wars films per year sounds completely over saturated.

I'd be cool with them doing what Jackson did with the LOTR and Hobbit films where you do 1 massive shoot and have 3 films released a year apart. We'll see.

I remember you giving me shit for mentioning that site.

They got it wrong (obviously). There is no way in hell that they could produce 2-3 SW films per year. Consider the pre & post production cycles that LucasFilm would need to go through (takes years). Its insane.

The quality of the films would suffer greatly if they went about it that way. And we could expect the movies to look like something out of Syfy.

I give EVERYONE shit for using AICN. Mostly due to their insane troll base on any news posted good or bad, it really makes you doubt Humanity's future, but honestly, I dont like using them either. Some of their reviewers are thicker than Bush and Blair, and really...I dunno, I think it doesn't help that a lot of folks theres tastes in entertainment is really off. Preferences aside, there have been lots of pleasant reviews of some of the worst films made...Kingdom of the Cyrstal Skull is a perfect example of that.

Well I find it amusing that "unofficially" at AICN they had banned any news coming from LucasFilms (especially related to Star Wars) due to the fact that Harry got butthurt with LucasFilm (it was in fact Warner Bros. ) because the company made them enforce an embargo for the review of the Clone Wars film, back in 2008.

That is why, since that went down it was very rare to read any SW news at AICN. And whenever it does happen (like it did a few days ago), the article gets to the top of the talkback list because everyone goes on full Hipster-mode. And they have to describe how Lucas raped their childhoods and all that jazz.

            STAR WARS = PAGE HITS.

P.S. They got a very long & passionate review of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PART 2

Excerpt: "If you go in with an open mind, I think you’ll walk away from THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PART 2 with a much different perspective than you may have had from the previous installments, which is, “Hmmm… that wasn’t bad at all… and actually kind of fun.”

Uhm ... it says 2-3 MOVIES per year in the pic they put up, not 2-3 Star Wars movies. Can't people read or something over there?
Either way, in case people seriously didn't know; Lucasfilm is responsible for the production of more than just Star Wars movies, and they were seriously busy in the 80 and early 90s. ;D

Two-three movie a years sounds quite a lot, I wonder what they'll have to do to fill this kind of quota...

They were still owned by Lucas and were still sold to Disney though, so my point still stands.

Interesting news on who is being courted to write Episode 8 of the next Star Wars trilogy...Lawrence Kasdan.

For people who dont remember who he is, Kasdan Wrote "The empire strikes back" as well as "Raiders of the Lost Ark".

While Kasdan hasnt written the best films in like the last 15 years or so, hes still the guy responsible for Episode 5. Tis interesting news.

                    UPDATED:

Its confirmed that Lawrence Kasdan is writing the future Star Wars films, Also the Writer of X-men:First Class is joining him.

The pair will write either Episode VIII or Episode IX — their exact division of responsibilities is yet to be determined — and they will also come aboard to produce the films.

J.J. Abrams to Direct STAR WARS: EPISODE VII

TheWrap.com is reporting that JJ Abrams will direct Star Wars: Episode VII, which is due out in 2015, for Disney. This should come as no surprise, with Abrams being one of several directors who has been rumored to be in talks with Kathleen Kennedy for the coveted directing role.

Abrams is fresh off his movie Star Trek Into Darkness, and this will mark the first time an individual has directed a film in both franchises. Will this create even more dissension among Star Wars and Star Trek fans? We have the next year and half to find out!

We've got a producer, a writer and now, a director. Folks, new Star Wars is on the horizon and this is only the beginning.

Here's a preview of how Star Wars will look like under good old J.J.

lol Does that make Leia the newest in a long line of Disney Princesses? Also, it's good that they got Kasdan to write the new Star Wars... But why in God's name are they making another one? With the absolute abortions that were episode 1~3, the shit-load of COMPLETELY CANON 'extended universe' novel bullshit and the overall volatile nature of your average Star Wars uber-fan, they're just asking for a nerdy shitstorm.

I miss posters by Drew. Too bad the industry suits drove him away and he retired.
