  • I'm currently forcing my way through Mutant Chronicles... and I'm in lack of words.

    I didn't expect anything good, and good is certainly not what this is even close to being... Poor directing and editing, pointless scenes, more pointless CG effects than a modern George Lucas sci-fi movie and and absolutely terrible DVD transfer (or maybe it's just the movie's terrible filtering and effects in 99% of all scenes that makes it look absolutely terrible)

    Someone recently told me about this one. Can't believe I missed it.
    I've heard some releases have had some issues with the English subtitles being rather "lacking". There's an article on it here

    I actually wanna see this one, and preferably sometime soon

    • I watched it on demand and I didn't have too many problems. There's an occasional part or two that could have used better wording but that's about it. Great movie man.

        • Bad huh? I refuse to watch it, I read the book too to see what all the fuss was about and it sucked.
          Vampires = cool
          Vampires that sparkle = not so much

              • I finally braced myself enough to watch Resident Evil Extinction. It was only £3 in HMV and i had a few quid left over from trading in a game so i thought might as well.

                Urgh. The first Resident Evil film was mediocre but at least tolerable. Apocalypse was a pile of excrement in all regards and Extinction is not much better.

                Once more it craps all over the games and ruins a series villain completely. And the Chairman Wesker crap was just awful. The only reason i dont hate it as much as Apocalypse was i had much lower expectations and at least the crappy Tyrant didnt start crying and wasnt in love with Mary Su- im sorry i mean Alice.

                And watching the DVD extras is guaranteed to boil your blood. Not only does Paul W.S Anderson claim his films respect the games and take them to a logical conclusion (hah!), but also tries to take credit for the resurgence of the Zombie genre. Apparently it was nothing to do with '28 days later', 'Dawn of the Dead Remake' or 'Shaun of the Dead', no it was all down to his "masterpiece" Resident Evil. And its hilarious when he later claims that the running zombie was a completely original idea in Extinction.

                God he's almost as bad as Uwe Boll.

                  ...you know, they say laughter is good for you. When I take Anderson, hang him upside down from a tree and beat him like a party pinata until all that glorious stupid comes out the maniacal laughter will be most therapeutic.

                  • I watched 7 pounds last night. (sorry, this is probably a late post) Will Smith is a brilliant actor, and 7 Pounds was a very sad movie.

                      Not as funny as I heard it was...but Paul Rudd was stellar, as always.

                                That's Nicholas Roeg for you. Have you seen Don't Look Now? One of my favorite films (it might be my favorite).

                                Anyway, I just saw The Fog for the first time, and it's clear we need someone like John Carpenter making horror films these days. Just when I felt a little disappointed a shock kicks in and the rest of the film carries such great suspense. Plus, for anyone who's seen his films, this probably has the greatest number of his early familiar actors (the only one missing is Kurt Russell)
