So I just saw an early George Romero movie, Martin. I mentioned it in the vampires thread, and it pretty much covered the hematolagnia (blood fetishism) that some of the discussion was about. I don't think it's supposed to be ambiguous, it just doesn't force-feed its viewers. Be that as it may, I highly recommend it. The acting's not great, but the direction is quite impressive. There are some intense scenes, and well done effects by Tom Savini.

Not really a movie, but Ive been watching "High Stakes Poker" and that is immense fun.
Daniel Negreanu is amazing, just watching his play has inspired and improved my play immensely.

I just watched We Were Soldiers and man that is a great movie.
There was one part where a wounded guy was on a medivac, and it was the last medivac back to base, and it was full, then he saw his friend, and thought that his friend was more wounded than he was, so he gave up his place and helped his friend on the medivac saving his friends life. A second later he got shot in the head by a stray bullet and died. That guy deserves a medal or something.

Half-way through a backwards run of the Star Wars movies (Started on Episode 6 and worked my way through Episode 4 now. Gonna get started on the prequel trilogy this weekend or something)
Finally got to see Terminator: Salvation too.
I kinda enjoyed it, but there was indeed a lot of PG-13 action going on. Mass-audience production, indeed. My father kindly pointed out something too, that with a few exceptions, the Terminators all seemed hell bent on making physical contact with mostly anything they wanted dead. Where'd all the guns go?
Spoiler:
+Good to know that futuristic death motorbike robots all have USB ports that accept autorun.ini or something.
Marcus was also kinda cool, but sucked that the trailers already spoiled the fact that he was a terminator, 'cause they really didn't make it too obvious + there were some nice little details, such as his lack of interest in edibles... though... how exactly does his human components work in the long run if he doesn't need air or food?

Just saw a silent film from 1922, Fritz Lang's Dr. Mabuse: The Gambler. It deems itself a portrait of the German zeitgeist, Dr. Mabuse is a psychoanalyst/master of disguise/criminal mastermind who has a huge network of counterfeiters, moles, prostitutes, and the like. After an aristocrat is conned by the doctor, he enlists the help of a police inspector to bring Mabuse down. The subject matter is pulpy but nonetheless it's engaging as hell, and considering how long it is (a little over 4 hours), for a silent film it's shot, acted, and staged very well. It jumps from set piece after set piece after set piece; for people skeptical of silent films I would highly recommend this one. Similar in sheer immensity to Sergei Eisenstein's The Battleship Potemkin
