  • I watched Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children last night. I have a big love/hate relationship with the movie. I love it, because 7 was a large part of my childhood, but I hate it because my favourite characters aren't really featured and I'm bitter about that. I wanted more Red XIII, Cait Sith, Yuffie and Cid screen-time and I got none....and I don't think they feature more in Advent Children Complete either. Ah well, I'll still buy it.

      • Hard Candy.

God that is such a great movie. There's really only two actors in this movie. One small scene with a third. It's dark and twisted, both characters are pretty insane but not in the, 'Ahahaha, I'm EVIL' way.

This is without a doubt Ellen Page's best work, forget Juno. I didn't even like that movie very much. ._. Ellen plays the 'smart type of insane' that I love in movies. Always a step ahead, always thinking, and at times she acts normal, but it seems like EVERYTHING she says is riddled with sarcasm.

Patrick Wilson is the other actor in this movie, and he plays the part well. I'm glad this movie didn't make him a slobby ugly nobody, as 'To Catch a Predator' usually shows the men it finds. Wilson is suave, has money, a good job, and seems normal all the way through despite how sick his secrets are.

The movie is pretty dialogue heavy between only two people, so it may not be your thing if you're more into actiony/gorey movies. I expected gore here, but it's mostly a mindfuck.

I definately recommend this movie with two thumbs up, more people should really know about this movie.

        • Hard Candy is a great movie I love the part where she cuts off the dudes testicles then puts them in the food disposal and says "well now we know they arnt steel"

          • Yeah, that was quite an achievement for Ellen Page. What I love about her character is that she may not even be 14, she could be much older. A lot of great ambiguity with both characters, both fuck with the audience's sympathy towards them.

I didn't get the impression she cut his balls off. IIRC towards the end he feels around and says something (in surprise) along the lines of "I'm all there."

                  • Ive seen quite a few interesting films recently.

I was pleasantly surprised with one called "Outlander", where Jim Caviezel plays a soldier from another planet, who crashlands on Earth in Scandinavia in the time of Vikings, along with him on board, a monster (apparently a fight on board caused the crash). Think of "13th Warrior", but with a little less Hollywood polish.

I then watched "Kate & Leopold" which talks about a 19th century duke being brought to modern time New York City. Its a romantic movie with a nice little twist. Hugh Jackman plays Leopold and he was quite entertaining to watch, considering that all of the roles Ive seen him in so far have been rather "actiony".

And then, finally... After listening to "Harry Potter this" and "Harry Potter that", I started watching them, starting from the first. I can definitely see the appeal, but Daniel Radcliffe cant act worth sh!t... Im going to say a big "meh", but like I said, I see why people like it so much.

I think the Harry Potter films are all quite bad too, Except for the third which is ok.

I think the main appeal of Harry Potter is in the books. If your into reading you should definitely check those out. The movies are just mediocre in every way.

                      • The problem with the movie is that the main characters have all got increasingly more monotone. I was watching it and just laughing at how some lines were delivered, at some points it was like Ginny was sleeping through some scenes.

Yeah that's problem too. Also the actors seem to age terribly fast between each film. It's annoying. It just looks wrong. Daniel Radcliffe is like 20, playing a 16 year old.

                          • That's not so bad, you see it a lot on TV so it doesn't really bother me.

                            • Has anyone seen CGI Joe yet? I loved Snake Eyes as a kid, but I can't get myself to see this awful looking film. I loved Optimus Prime too, but I don't even have the stomach to try and watch Revenge of the Fallen either.

Im eating half of my words here now. In the last 2 movies, Radcliffes acting was actually damn good. Im actually going to say that Im going to rewatch the movies in a year or so.

                                Damn, swallowed my pride there.

JillĀ“s B- Revenge of the Fallen is utter crap, but the few OptimusĀ“ fight scenes are spectacular and badass.

I saw the first Transowners at least 10 times and loved the movie. ROTF however... what a letdown.
