Needless to say, I'm not a big fan of romances at all. And I don't think that it will matter with The Notebook...ugh.
While I generally agree that all older films are better than new ones, there still are some great news films out too. I thought Notebook was fantastic.
Originally posted by GuardhouseMusic View PostLol, I find it funny that the director of The Notebook, Nick Cassavetes, is the son of the indie filmmaker John Cassavetes. Two distinct styles and obviously one more mainstream than the other.

I'll pay for any expenses I ring up, if any...somehow...
Saw Watchmen. It was a good adaptation, I must admit. If anything it may have stayed a touch too true to the comic...the pacing didn't work as well. However, I'm hearing good things about the director's cut. http://www.somethingpositive.net/sp07212009.shtml

Those pics are hilarious. I don't know much about the "Twilight" (Toilet?) series, other than what I see plastered all over magazines at the grocery checkout, but I am sure it sucks (pun intended) ass.
Spoiler:
You´ll have to watch it. Ever came to a realization about a movie, that watching it, despite not liking it, is like a cultural obligation? You have to see it, otherwise you dont know how the world works or youre stupid or something? Thats the same thing with Twilight, youll just have to grind yourself through those 1.5 hours. The movie is entertaining, once you get used to gagging, that is. I dont know how to explain this phenomenon to you, but if I had to use a picture, this would describe it-
Spoiler:
The movie is basically every teenage girls wetdream. The main character is a girl, who is beautiful, but beautiful in a natural way. Shes smart, and has a personality, so shes not like everyone else (zing!). The guy is mysterious (hes a fucking vamp!), hes handsome and has the jawline of David Coulthard, so hes manly, strong. Then hes quiet, but extremely intelligent, caring, and can be agressive (manly!) when the situation calls for it. Hes perfect. And then theres everyone else, whos a pure and bland representation of what a typical "father, mother, brother, sister, dog" would be, but noones focusing on them.
So, in short. Get up and watch it.
I read this one before I went to see it with a girl. So I was well prepared-

So if someone prefers they can avoid the stuff completely, which is likely not that bad an idea. Besides, the drinking age here is 18, but that generally gets completely ignored. My school had a party in a pub when I was 16/17 and everyone was drinking. Everyone. Teachers, students, bar staff...

And I see about the drinking thing...
Eh, I think I'll wait a bit longer. No use putting my liver through hell at this age. Thanks anyway, though.
And I read the graphic novel, which I liked very much...
I wonder how it really compares to the adaptation. Though I've heard that the novel is still better then the movie.

Inglourious Basterds.
I'm surprised. It's neither ultra-violent in the same sense as Kill Bill pt. 1 or smarmy dialogue-heavy like Pulp Fiction/Reservoir Dogs. Not that I dislike any of the aforementioned films for those reasons, let alone at all. Either way, Tarantino made a tight knit film with likable characters, good dark humor, and a great resolution. Though the Sam Jackson narration (for maybe a little over 1 minute in total) was arbitrary.Last edited by GuardhouseMusic; 08-25-2009, 11:45 PM.
