Personally I'm getting tired of such movies. What happened to historical movies? That was nice.

The Green Hornet is actually a COMEDY. It's not really playing it straight at all. If you go to see it expecting that it will be a dark serious movie, you'll be disappointed. Most people didn't know what to expect from it since the Green Hornet is more of a niche-type franchise. Thus why it's doing well with most ppl.

      • Heroes had a pretty good first season, but everything after that just went to hell in terms of quality and story/character ideas (though, Kristen Bell's character was a pretty nice concept - especially how she had an actual weakness and stuff to her ability.)

Recently found myself rewatching Napoleon Dynamite, Interview with a Vampire, The Prestige and Proposition. Good movies. Now onto finishing my 80s fun, I think (in the middle of a rewatch of The Goonies, The Princess Bride, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Breakfast Club and Weekend at Bernie's)

It's turn-your-brain-off entertainment with actual quality.

Also, yeah, I finally saw Buried tonight; seems to be a bit of a popular movie here.

Oh, I thought they got ousted halfway through the second season, during the writters strike or something.
I re watched the first series of Heroes today and I still really enjoyed it. Its a shame really.

Watched the Nightmare on Elm Street remake last night. Not very good to be perfectly honest and I actually preferred the original. Also I'm not sure If I like the new Freddy or not.

The movie really is a must see for any one who likes vietnam films, or for any one who can appreciate a beautifully made and powerfull film.

Heroes was awesome in the first season. The 2nd one was just okay. But the show really went downhill after the writer's strike. And also losing a few writers from the show. That's why the 3rd season blew King Kong balls.

Interview with the Vampire was good. But I feel that said movie actually started out the whole metrosexual vampire theme. Which culminated with that Mormon gal writing those horrible fanfiction books that killed the vampire mythos for the current generation (and past ones too).

                  • ...they narrowed it to just five? And yet, the first two are exceptional...and the Sarah Jane Chronicles had Summer Glau!

                    • Summer Glau..... was the culmination of the whole Buffy the Vampire/Xena Warrior Princess Girl pow3r craze that was prevalent during the 90's.

And that was reflected on RE female characters.... especially on Claire Redfield, who as a teenager, shamed the hell outta all the military trained characters in the franchise. Since she was a lot better than all of them (combined).

And that's why Paul W.S. Anderson thought that adding ALICE to the RE films was a natural move.

All based merely on opinion, obviously.

                      • I dunno about that. I'll admit, I like Summer Glau mostly because of Firefly, and in that she did relatively little girl power stuff, relying on other characters to help her deal with the crazy. It was only when Serenity hit the theatres that River the Ass Kicker showed up. And yeah, she really did kick ass, but there was so much elese going on with the character...the scene in the storage locker and the scene on Miranda where she begs the dead to wake up especially.

And in the Sarah Connor Chronicles, she was a frikin' Terminator. If she hadn't been badass, it would have been wrong.

The only other things I can think of that I've seen her in is Mammoth and Dollhouse, and she was hardly an ass kicking machine in either of those.

                          • Well, I'm merely saying that the vision/ideal of the kick-ass female, reached it's zenith with Summer.

She perfectly embodied the best of the best, in terms of representing the whole girl empowerment (movement?) thing we saw in the media like a decade ago.

I mean, it's got to the point where nobody questioned a 10 year old girl making Hannibal Lecter look like a sissy in comparison.
