If I was one with uber-standards, it's one of those rare movies that you'll probably remember even if it does nothing new at all.

      • Watched Buried last night, holy shit what a movie. Not exactly what I expected from the ending either, was a surprise to me.
LOL, are you serious? What a crap POS. I remember just watching that with my gf laughing all the way through at how shit it was. I then said we should watch 127 hours for further boredom/fun. "It's like the box movie but on a mountain"

        • Hahaha. Well from the perspective of it's not been done before it was very well done, I thought anyway. The surprise factor is that normally in movies the "good" guy doesn't die, so that's why I say that. Anyway, you have your opinions about the movie and I have mine.

Yes, usually I wouldn't be so vocal but this is Buried we are talking about... the movie where the cameraman actually gets bored and starts zooming in and out for no reason. I just watched Insidious - crappy CG horror with a few good moments.

The plot for this was entirely ripped off from Repo The Genetic Opera, honestly i was really stunned the creators didn't sue. The book Repo Men was based on was released in 2009, Genetic Opera had been going since late 1999/early 2000 and released as a movie in 2008. Genetic Opera's a much better movie in my opinion, it might be a little campy but it doesn't pretend that it isn't, and casting Paris Hilton as a spoiled plastic surgery addict was perfect casting. You should check it out if you liked the plot of Repo Men and see where it actually came from You can watch the whole thing free on YouTube legally (or at least in the UK you can).

...yes, because entertainment about being held up in a singular spot majority of or at all time should be left in books, right?

Man. I'd love to attend something like that.

I just saw a 1981 slasher film called The Burning. It's a considerably well put together and enjoyable one among all of the crap the genre births. I mean hey, if Tom Savini turned down Friday the 13th Part 2 to work on this one it must be worth something, right?

Seriously though, it's a tense, chilling movie. Not overboard whatsoever with offing characters before you get familiar with them, but the kills are still satisfyingly gory and spared for the right moments. Also, apparently it features the first on-screen appearances of Jason Alexander and Holly Hunter, both fairly prominent characters.

                      • Thor was a really fine film. After Iron Man 2 I had low expectations, but was surprised by how well pieced together the film was. I liked that the story actually had a nice metaphor and didn't try to be preachy about it.

As for Insidious well....Ya know who made Insidious?

James Wan and Leigh Whannel. The guys who made 'Saw', 'Dead Silence', and 'Death Sentence'.What do all these films have in common? They all suck.

Well a box is not exactly the Starship Enterprise, and neither is it a room full of people like the Man from Earth (though I did prefer Requiem for Methuselah from ST:TOS). The director has just combined the terrifying concept of being buried alive with well, a low budget, and put an Iraqi spin on it and called it artsy... Kudos to them I guess.

Strange how the movie never gets a claustrophobic feeling across like shorter scenes in Kill Bill II, Double Jeopardy - perhaps like I said earlier, its because they were just more busy zooming in and out all the time.

Just saw Morning Glory with Harrison Ford.. not too bad, I can sort of relate to his character - this is life, be serious!

Actually I kinda liked Saw and Dead Silence (at least parts of it)..

                              • Went to the drive in and saw Thor last night, it was a decent movie. At the very least they confirmed our suspicions about there being an Avengers movie. Next on the movie list is Green Lantern. I refuse to see X-men on the grounds that they are already changing story elements they laid down in Wolverine...
