  • Oh no. Not just as bad. I put Flight in the, 'Crap but just about watchable' pile. Zombie Diaries ended up in the 'What's the point of the zombies except as sex objects?' pile, which is a small and disturbing pile, but I think only one person was killed by zombies. Humans turned out to be the real monsters (and like zombies waaay too much). Gangs ended up in 'the characters are so damned stupid I want the zombies to win, and then eat the writer pile' which is much larger.

    • Kung Fu Panda 2 . . . loved it. Also re-watched the LoTR trilogy (Extended), Book of Eli (Fallout) and tonight I've rented Suckerpunch. Wish me luck . . .

I agree. I enjoyed the movie, but it wasn't the spectacle that everyone made it out to be. I thought it was a bit too campy/childish in some parts. I did really like the Emma Frost portrayal though.

          The Stand

I've been on a bit of a Stephen King kick here lately; probably because it is nearing Halloween. To me, this was a lot like It in the sense that it fell short in the ending. I thought it was totally anticlimactic, and didn't quite realize what had happened until about a minute later. The first two parts were awesome; I loved the whole virus-escaping-and-killing-everyone part and the chaos that ensued. The second part with the dreams, and trying to find the old, black woman was decent. The third part was when I started to see a decline, and then part four was just altogether lacking for me.

I did not like this portrayal of Satan/Lucifer/Ultimate Evil; he just was not at all believable for me. They had him play the nice card way too much, and the occassional outbursts were more along the lines of something a child would do. He just did not feel evil to me.

I still liked the movie, but when it comes to scripts, I think Stephen King needs to put a little more effort into his endings. He did excellently with Storm of the Century; that ending felt believable based on what had happened, but most of his other movies I have seen could use a little work.

          • Saw Paranormal Activity 3 Thursday night at 10 (Don't like going to the midnight showing because its sold out. Well it was last year) and I actually liked it. I hated the first one, the second movie wasn't bad but this was is pretty good. More violent. Also got some free shirts and hats too.

This is probably the most common criticism of Stephen King. The Dark Tower series even has a warning before the final part of the ending, essentially saying 'this is going to suck, you should stop reading now.' If you've seen the Mist the ending from the book was quite different and not so horrible - when King saw the movie he apparently said he wished he'd thought up the more miserable ending himself.

                • I've recently watched - Scream, Scream 4, Ip Man, Ip Man 2, Parasite Eve (film inspired by the novel that inspired the games of the same name).

I came across my Father watching The Last Airbender and had to redirect him to the Nickelodeon channel and put the real Avatar: The Last Airbender on for him...

From what I saw of it, not the worst adaptation but the casting is kind of WTF, score was repetitive and if he thought it was interesting then the show would be much better considering he likes cartoons and anime (where else did I get it from?).

I heard that movie is absolutely horrible. Was it?

I watched it in HD the other night - one of those movies you have to turn the volume down or risk annoying everyone in the room who isn't watching it...

Nah Book of Eli it's not an official Fallout movie but it certainly feels like one to me. There are cannibal's, raiders, people trade and fight for fresh water, huge desert wasteland etc. The difference is they have some cars and vans and there's no radiation or mutants and radscorpions or whatever but it feels like a quest from Fallout.

                          • Finally got around to watching Harry Brown last night after it got recommended to me by quite a few of my mates. My god what a film! Entertaining from beginning to end, thought provoking and violent, heart wrenching and adrenaline pumping, this film had it all!

I also watched attack the block last night. It was pretty good actually. Id heard mainly bad things about it but it was actually pretty interesting. The design of the aliens (or lack of) was also quite interesting.

                            • Book of Eli is OK.. The Road is a better Fallout-like movie IMO, good book too..

                              • I saw "Drive" a few days ago. One of the best film I've seen since The Dark Knight. Ryan Gosling has a lot of charisma. Very good atmosphere and soundtrack aswell.
