  • World War Z

Well... I was wondering if any of you had read World War Z? or at least The Zombie Survival Guide; they'r both from Max Brooks (I hate him, his too crazy, not that I'm not, but... it's too much). The book is "an oral history of the zombie war"; I had looked all over the net for it, and I found lots of links to download it as an audio-book: somebody reading the book to you. I didn't like the idea, so I kept looking and I found it on "paper". I began reading it, I had read like... half of the book and classes began, so I left the book, now I'm trying to read it from time to time. I like WWZ, but... the other one is like... I don't know, a... diccionary! it's boring to read.

Well! my point is: has any of you read the book? and if so, did you think it was good? the same questions for The Zombie Survival Guide.

    P.S.: sorry for my spelling.

I own both and I think they're good. I enjoy the Zombie Survival Guide, but mostly for the outbreak stories at the back. I find the way Max Brooks says they can do this, and only this, a little irritating. Some of the advice is fairly good though.

World War Z is better, and a pretty chilling story in places.

I only have WWZ, and I think its a pretty solid zombie novel. The thing I really liked in it was the fact that it wasn't strictly a 'zombie outbreak' story, there was political and social issues in it as well. I love when people include those kind of things because it makes it much more realistic.

I've got the survival guide, and I really like it. Mostly because it takes itself seriously, and doesn't let the veneer drop.

Before WWZ came out, they did little audio book excepts in a podcasts. I listened to some of these, but I didn't like them, so I haven't purchased the book yet.

World War Z was a great book. The Audio Book was swell as well, but it was abridged (meaning some parts were missing). Mark Hamill and a handful of other famous people contribute voices, so it really adds quite a bit to an already great book.
