Hi! I was wondering if someone could help me out with a small problem I have... Amazon doesn't ship to Australia, and I really want the Fallout 3 Survival Edition. Would it be possible for someone on these forums who lives in America to get the pack shipped to their address, then they can ship in onto me? I'd pay for everything

Fallout3 is cleared for Australian release, but it's edited from the previous version which was submitted for a rating (and then Refused Classification).
I doubt that Australian Customs will seize import copies of the game (the un-edited version) coming into Australia (at least for personal use), I've never had any problems with them and imports. But it might make it a bit harder to find a place to ship it to Australia. Ebay will have some up I'm sure anyways.
EDIT: It looks like the changes made for the Australian censors will be shipped to every market the game is available in.
When Australia's Office of Film and Literature Classification board refused to rate Fallout 3, it did so due to one too many drug references. Apparently, the virtual use of opiates in-game — "material promoting or encouraging proscribed drug use," in OFLC-speak; "chems" in game speak — is frowned upon. The uptight…Last edited by TheSelfishGene; 09-10-2008, 05:59 AM.sigpic

Norgs are fine, encouraged even.
Swearing is no problem at all.
Most violence gets through.
Australia doesn't have an 18+ category for games, so things are either squeezed in under a 15+ restricted, or refused classification (and therefore illegal to distribute).
There have been calls to include games into the 18+ category for well over a decade. And currently there is ONE man preventing the legislation from being changed. He's a family-values-on-his-high-horse-doesn't-see-games-as-anything-more-meaningful-than-a-childish-diversion
kind of guy, and basically a cunt.

Also, if the censorship is going to every country, I may as well just buy the game in Cairns.
Also, I'm looking at the PC version, Nem556. Not a console edition ;)

Whether it be Australian censorship or not, the fact that the drugs will be of fictive nature is just good!
Why?
I've always had a bit of a critical view towards Fallout 3.
This in a somewhat "I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than disappointed". I don't give many games I'm planning on buying that "benefit".
Now, why is it good that the drug names are set to be fictive names? Because then it at least stays consistent with the source material (being Fallout 1-2 + Tactics). And last time I checked medical piss and drug politics, none of the following products are available for purchase (not even with a prescription or on the streets):
Jet
Rad-X
RadAway
Stim-paks
Buffout
Mentats
Psycho
No?
Okay, thought so.

Lol, cool Borman. I live in Cairns! Didn't think it was a very popular tourist spot
Michael Atkinson is an asshole. I wish he would get hit by a bus.
Australia's censorship is pretty easy-going though. We were on of the very few countries that let Carmageddon 2 through completely uncensored.

Everyone wants the rating and everyone wants to kill this guy =P
But that's another story.
