but seriously. i actually have two faves. of course dawn of the dead original but also a not well known zombie movie called JUNK. its kind of like resident evil meets parts of dawn of the dead. its an odd movie becasue i feel like its an unnofficial resident evil movie. (mostly due to the greensih nature of the zombie virus)

Return of the Living Dead: II (1988)

It is awesome in its awfulness. There's a part near the end where the survivors electrocute a massive amount of zombies. One of them is dressed like Michael Jackson and it dances accordingly.

I saw a Day of the Dead 'remake' the other day. I had no idea they had even made one. As with any 'remake' the first step is to replace the original cast with good looking, white, American teenages (that or Nichole Kidman). But I'm baffled as to why they called it Day of the Dead or why they said it was "based on a motion picture by George A. Romero". It wasn't a completely horrible movie but it had f**k all to do with Day of the Dead . It was just another zombie flick, with super fast zombies running on walls and ceilings...

My favorite is Dawn of the Dead, the original. It annoys me that I should have to specify "the original". The remake was okay but totally unnecessary.
Day of the Dead (the original... *sigh*) was better in most ways and comes a close 2nd. It has the best effects of any zombie film. I just thought Dawn was a bit more fun and I watched it about 100 times when I was a kid. Anyone who loves those movies should also see the 'Scream Greats' special, with Tom Savini. It's a great insight into the making of those films.

I also liked the 'Return of the Living Dead' movies. The're kinda black comedies with some good action and special effects.

If you're a bit older (like me) you might know about the Italian Dawn of the Dead rip offs. The original being 'Zombie' by Lucio Fulci (1980) and also 'Night of the Zombies' (there were others too). I actually thought the latter was some sort of sequel to Dawn (when I was young and stupid) because the special ops guys were dressed in the same uniforms.

I've seen all the more recent flicks like 28 Days Later etc. and though I've enjoyed them, they don't really have any lasting appeal for me...

To quote a line from Day of the Dead, which me and my brother constantly used on each other: "I wanna know... what the F**K you're doing with my time!!!"

oh ok. in my mind i thought you had seen the orig before the remake. yeah, have no idea why they brought him back for the remake though

Like Skunky says, There is good foreign zombie movies. I watched one that competely freaked called The Cemetery Man One of the few movies that I hope is remade. I invision The sound track to have the famous Blue Oyster Cult song Don't fear the Reaper. For any one has seen The Cemetery Man will know what I mean.

But I also agree with Skunky about loving quotes from the original Day of The Dead.
