i just realized that the black preacher guy from the remake of dawn of the dead that says "when there is no more room in hell the dead walk the earth" is the main character in the original
Yep, and also Tom Savini, who did all the special effects for the original, makes a cameo in the remake as the leader of the bike gang... It was nice how they paid those tributes to the original but I still thought the whole project was unnecessary.

I forgot about the Night of the Living Dead remake. That was pretty good. I actually went and saw that at the cinema.
The original was okay for such an ancient film.
Fun fact: Return of the Living Dead was based on a story by John Russo, co-writer of Night of the Living Dead, so Return is technically the official sequel, not Dawn of the Dead.

On the subject of Italian splatter; does anyone remember Demons? I LOVED that flick. It's not literally a zombie film but it has a lot in common. It's a classic! The 2nd one was okay too.

@John Doe, it's FULL of great lines

Yeah, Evil Dead was really good at being unsettling/creepy with their zombie/demonic appearance. Watching the blooper reel of those scenes though kind of takes the edge off it.

Dawn of the Dead 1978. Not only was it incredibly creepy and gross but it was fun as hell to watch. Plus, the characters are so fully developed.

I liked how Romero just threw you into the movie without explaining much. I think it helped set the movie's atmosphere.

Dawn of the Dead remake? It was Ving Rhames, and he wasn't a preacher, he was a bad-ass cop.

If you're refering to Mamock's comment, the preacher he's talking about only appears on a television newscast in the remake of Dawn of the Dead as a "Televangelist" or whatever and he was indeed Peter from the original Dawn of the Dead, Mr. Ken Foree :]

                          Speak of the Dead...
I got 'the Evil Dead Ultimate Edition' a while ago for $8!!!
Word of warning: A few years ago I got Evil Dead 2 (it was the Australian, New Zealand version). One of the screen shots on the back of the box was the scene of a mutilated demon/zombie. That part where Ash goes bonkers with his axe and hacks him to pieces. The scene shows severed limbs, twitching. I took it home and was watching it when it got to that bit. It was censored and totally cut out!!!
I took it back to the shop and explained the situation and told them I wanted my money back. They gave me a refund and the staff also thought it was an odd thing to do... If you're gonna censor a film, don't put a picture of the censored scene on the back of the box!

Today I found Day of the Dead for $10. It's the 2nd time I've bought it. Years ago I let a former friend borrow it (I should have known better). He ended up selling all of his games, console, surf board and dvd collection to buy more drugs. I presume he also sold my Day of the Dead... havn't seen him for years. Dickhead
The cover is different to the one I got before. It says it's uncut and uncensored but I doubt its got anything I havn't seen before.

                                Those are Australian PAL releases.
We have 'R' (for people over 18) and even 'X' rated movies but our videogame ratings only go up to 'MA" (mature audience, over 15). That's why games keep getting banned and censored here. It's a ridiculous situation. The average age of a gamer here is between 25-30 years old but our government still treats games as if they are only aimed at children.
