I hope Nightmare on Elm Street remake is done justice to. I'm hoping they'll do something new and original with Freddy, reinvent him. That way, it's not gonna be like, "Oh yea, we want to just improve on the original," which I find a bit disrespectful to the person who made the original.

^ that person would be Wes Craven, he's a pretty good director.
Anyways, I think horror films have been dead for some time now. I think the last good generation of horror films was the 80's, nowadays no one can think of anything new or original. They have to use successful older films, and turn them into garbage by casting untalented Paris Hilton-like actresses in it. I think reimagining a horror film is even worse than just remaking it, Prom Night is a good example, it reminded me of one of those Hilary Duff movies for some reason, sick!!!

Hollywood ran out of ideas a few years back. Hell, they're even going to remake "Karate Kid." Good grief.

Remakes are generally terrible...though I did enjoy the remake of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." I know many people disliked it, but I've seen the original and the remake, and each one has its own merit. Now the "Halloween" remake was NOT good. Yikes.

Is it 'plan 9' as in 'plan 9 from outta space' or something like that which is considered the worst proper movie ever?

I know Wes Craven's work, lol. I just meant that with any remake, really. Like Cronenberg's 1986's The Fly remake, was very different from the original. So it's not like he said, "This is what it should've been like," he just said, "I like that concept, this is what I'll do with it."

Although I'll admit, some of the remakes like The Longest Yard, I haven't seen the originals, so I can't compare those, nor am I familiar with any case where a remake of a movie was just a blatant update. I'm just hoping that's not gonna be the case with Nightmare on Elm Street.
In other words, I don't want to see Tina, Nancy, Rod and Glen, in it. I don't want to see the same specific events and gags that happened in the first movie. I'd rather see it re-imagined in a completely new way. Which, as I can see, is not the case with the new Friday the 13th. By looking at the trailer for the remake, it looks like an update of the original, same hockey mask and everything. And I think that's completely unnecessary.

The Friday the 13th remake is kind of a re-imagining. Jason is slimmer, and faster. He's like a wild beast. Sure, he's got the same mask, but that is his trademark. You wouldn't expect to see Freddy without his patented glove in the Nightmare remake, would you?

As for the Nightmare remake...I'm cool with whatever they do,m as long as Freddy stays evil and doesn't turn into a part-time stand-up comedian. The first Nightmare on Elm Street was scary, but as soon as Freddy started spitting out one-liners that were as bad as RE4 Leon's, I knew there was no going back. That's why the sequels were inferior to me.

I've all but given up on horror movies. I honestly don't remember the last time I was scared by a movie.

I can...I saw "Jumper" when I was living in Japan. That film was horrifyingly bad.

Even though I'm against remakes, I'm somewhat interested to see what they will do with "A Nightmare on Elm Street", since its one of my favorite horror films. I'm sure they will use most of the characters from the original, especially Nancy.
