Been meaning to get one if it can also transmit prog scan signals, its pissing me off having to unplug the 360 to put the Wii in and vice versa through the tvs component output.

So, yesterday I bought a Wii...
It was very lucky I didn't wait till today (or wait another hour) because I reckon I got one of the last Wii's in the country! I live near a huge shopping mall and when I ask about the Wii at my usual place I was told "sorry, we're sold out... we've got a limited amount coming next week but all of those have already been reserved by people who have pre-ordered".
Hmmm interesting, I thought... So I walked around and checked at least 8 other stores and got the same response. Store number 9 gave me more bad news and I was giving the guy my name and phone number 'just in case' one became available, when another dude said, "oh, we've got some out the back but they are all reserved". I asked him to double check and he came back and said they had 18 Wii's and 15 pre-orders... So, thanks to their poor maths skills I was able to grab one.
*Rant alert*
I CAN NOT BELIEVE how friggin popular this primitive, over-hyped, over-rated, over-priced console has become!!! (Australian $ & prices) It costs $400. For another $200-$300 you can get the new 40gig ps3 or a 360Elite! (that's the price of 2 games!) or you can buy a ps2 for $150! The vast majority of Wii games are well below the graphical standard of the best ps2 games, yet it's more than double the price. I was mostly competing against mothers to try and grab a Wii. I can imagine the family conversations:
"What about a ps2, honey?"
"NO, mommy. I don't want a ps2, I WANNA a Wii!!!"
"Oh okay, pumpkin"...
If I was Santa, they'd be getting a smack across the head and a kick up the ass!
If I could only own 1 console and had to choose between a ps2 and a Wii, I would go the ps2 without hesitation.
My conclusion: People are idiots!
Anyhoo, today I went back to the 'Christmas Madness Mall' and got RE-UC and Uncharted. Played through the 1st 3 missions of RE-UC and I'm enjoying it. I havn't died yet but I'm sure I'll have to replay it a lot to unlock everything. I think it's a game I'll enjoy in short bursts. My 1st impressions are good... Wii sports is fun but I was surprised and disappointed at how little control you have. Tennis is cool but I spent a while trying to work out how to move my character before realizing you can't move, it all happens automatically and it's the same with each game. In golf I found myself facing a tree and had no choice but to smack it into the tree trunk. Baseball is fun but again, you can't field, catch or steal bases. You perform one action and let the Wii do the rest. It's dumbed down gaming to the extreme. It IS fun but I'm not sure how long the novelty will last. There are SOooo many better games of the same genres on ps2.
After giving Uncharted a quick test play, the contrast in technology and quality only makes the Wii's popularity seem even MORE laughable!
But early 2 thumbs up to RE-UC! (I was worried I wouldn't like it) and I'm all set for Christmas (when I'm not working, that is).
Also, Burnout demo should be up in a few hours !!!

The reason the Wii is so popular is because it's something new. Pretty much since gaming began its always been sitting in from of a tv with a controller, nice to get up and actually do something Although, spoiled bratty kids do need a smack across the head.

Hey, I got my RE-UC guide in the post yesterday too
I got the calender a couple weeks back aswell.
It's a bit of a bummer with the Wiimote needing batteries. It would have been better if you could just plug it into the console (like the ps3 controllers).
The plug-ins for Gamecube controllers and memory cards is a welcome touch.
I also got some component cables for it (I got em for my ps2 a few years ago and was SHOCKED at how much better the picture was), so my Gamecube games are looking better too.

Hey, Dude, maybe Dot can sell the splitter to you! Just an idea...
In response to Skunky's post, yeah, the prices of consoles are outrageous. I looked at my K-Mart catalouge, and it said that PS2s were $150 (with a controller), and PS3s were $599 with two controllers! I told my sister about the PS3, and she said 'No way, you'd have to trade in games for that price.' Nope, I told her. Still, she insisted I was wrong... Until she saw the catalouges. At this rate, the price wars will go overboard and the big companies will be giving away their consoles for free to become the most popular.Last edited by Helegad; 12-16-2007, 08:22 AM.

I already have it, but this one was only £3, and it's far from mint like my other one, so I can seal up the other and keep it in perfect condition.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

Lots of stores down here have been having HUGE dvd sales. Clearing out all kinds of stuff for under $10. I've stocked up on a few things... The Exorcist (classic!), Feast, The Decent, Van Helsing, From Dusk Till Dawn and Aliens vs Predator.
Also, I've always been a Mortal Kombat fan and couldn't resist getting these (pictured): The 2 films and the 2 3dvd sets of the crappy tv series called MK Conquest. Anyone remember it? It's in the so bad it's good category. I've actually been enjoying watching them. With the movies that's 8 dvds of MK! (probably sounds like a F***ing nightmare to a lot of you )
Still waiting for RE-Extinction... I hope they release the trilogy on BR in Aus. (I've read the 1st film actually has the best quality Blue Ray picture)
Finally, I still havn't seen 300. Is it any good and worth getting on BR? (I loved Conan the Barbarian).Last edited by Skunky; 01-19-2008, 04:35 AM.
